I myself have one. GTX Package and Daytona Pace Car

Car # 580/1500

I have a legit 1998 Medium Gulf Blue Metallic GTX Daytona. I purchased it this winter from the original owner. He had all documentation from SLP to go with along with the window sticker/bill of sale. It has the chrome SLP decal in the door jamb, and one on the bottom of the trunklid. SLP package on my car consisted of the 6 spoke chrome 17" wheels, GTX Badging, Ram Air Hood and cold air intake, and GTX key fobs. Car has stock exhaust on it, not optioned with the cat back system. The car came with 2 sets of rims. The GTX wheels were on the car when new, and the silver torque star pace car wheels were in the trunk when sold new. Thats very interesting.

I was told less than 30 total Pace cars had the GTX conversion done to them. Any fact to this? Is this a super rare car? 2 Limited edition packages done to one car.


Mods: All stock yet, but I have SLP headers, Comp Cams VS cam, DHP Tuned Pcm, Comp Cams hardened pushrods, 3.4 & 3.25 pulleys, Ported lower intake manifold, Ported Supercharger, 2000 GTP built engine to go in, New GM 4T65E-HD transmission, SLP style Gen 2 PFYC spoiler, 2000 Pace Car Roof Fins, 20% Window tint, Projector style headlights/corners. Should make for one awesome ride this summer!

I've heard conflicting numbers between 26 and 30... I don't think anybody knows for sure since it wasn't just a dealer option. You could call up SLP and have the package installed and it still was considered a true GTX.

To know for sure, you could try calling SLP, they might be able to tell you how many 98 Daytona's were made as GTXs... just a thought

wish i had your luck lol. i keep getn the hot ones lol. but slp gtx damn thats rare. im reading the november 1998 issue of car and driver with the gtx article as i type lol page 155. off topic it even has the pre marauder called a lounge lizard, its supercharged though.

well i found another 2000 daytona lol and it suffers the same thing mine did, fire lol. but it didnt burn up nothing but the sparkplug wires and engine cover then they manage to put it out. but it has a salvage title but the 1 im parting out doesnt so hmmmmmmmmm

^^^ oh i dont lol i was searching for a daytona and found those 2. i stay in atlanta they ride monte carlos more than gps here. thats why i run into so many daytona/40th an parts i guess lol. wish i did stay somewhere close to zzp.

ZZP's a good 3 hours from me, maybe a little less, that's funny how you found those though. I used to live in Atlanta, they ride a lot of Monte's your right, I started seeing a lot of Charger's and Magnums too though.
