This 2004 Pop Secret 400 pace car was sold at the Scottsdale 2008 Barret-Jackson auction this year. Heres the info on it from the auction site:

This Grand Prix pace vehicle was used to pace several NASCAR events during the 2003 season including The Pop Secret 400 at North Carolina Speedway in Rockingham, NC.

Car sold for $12,500.

Wiow I got mine for 14K.. Geeze.. I think it's the strobes and the decals .. nobody wants to buy a car fixed up like that to drive daily.... the 4th actual 2000 PACE CAR FROM DAYTONA ALSO WENT FOR $12,500 OFF EBAY BACK IN 2004.. I WAS GONNA BUY IT, ENDED UP SHITTING A BRICK WHEN ONE OF THE PACE CAR COLLECTOR GUYS SNATCHED IT OUT FROM UNDER ME... GRRRRRRR.

I've been in it to buy a pace car forever now it seems. the one I want is 15k, and in Illinois. i won the auction, and it was as much as i could afford (13k) and the guy decided he wanted 15.

Reference that 39000 price tag, that guy mentions that he has BOTH of the CORRECT Daytona 500 Pace Cars. Both of his cars were display cars, and were not used in the actual Daytona 500 race. In fact, it is my understanding that those two cars never paced a NASCAR race.

His claim that they are the only two CORRECT REAL DAYTONA 500 Pace Cars is a little demeaning to my car, which is one of the two actually used in the race, while neither of his cars was used.

True, his graphics are original, and mine were changed (the door graphics were changed to promote later races, specifically the 2000 Pepsi 400, then the 2001 Daytona 500, which are the graphics still on the car, many real pace cars have logos for the following years race on them), but the funny thing is, the two track cars had a WINSTON CUP SERIES "Swoosh" style logo of a certain size, and his cars did not. One of his has the older WINSTON CUP SERIES straight logo, and the other has a tiny swoosh logo. Plus, one of his cars has modded grill inserts, etc. So his cars are no more correct than mine, and he really should not be making the claim that he has the only two correct real cars from the 2000 Daytona 500.

$39000? I would sell my car in a second for that much. I only put 12 miles on it this year. And that was for the recall work.

That "Spoiler" you see on the back window is the Whelen FASTRACK Strobe system ... I series of 5 5oo series Whelen strobe unit attached to a molded housing and controlled by the Whelen ISP188 Intell. power suppy.

Wow, I haven't seen "Winston Cup" name for long time. It was on left fender on silver car. I think it was last season under Winton Cup in 2003. I know they are smoking brand but this name is sound right. Nextel Cup? nah... Sprint Cup? ewwww
