Well I sold the CAI that I had posted about a couple of weeks ago and got something even better. Per the dynos this intake will make 5-7 more HP then I normal CAI.

Here is the review I posted on the G8 boards.

Item: Over the Radiator Cold Air Intake by New Era Performance.

Cost: $379.95 + Shipping. I got mine for $329.95 thanks to the Black Friday sale.

Where to Buy: http://www.neweraperformanceparts.com/d ... KV=otrg8|0

Finish: Black Chrome

Kit comes with:

Air Box
K&N Air Filter
2 Silicone Couplers
1 Plastic Line
Instructions
2 decals

Image

First off I know there were questions about how well the filter was held in place. This filter is not going anywhere. The fit is tight and two tabs on each side of the Air Box must be removed in order to slid the filter out. See pics.

Everything in the kit is of high quality and well built. Install took maybe 45 mins and would have been faster if I did not take the air box apart and take so many pics. I really did not use the supplied instructions. The install is so easy and very straight forward that anyone should be able to do it. I did need to trim the plastic line about an inch but that was all that I need to change.

Got to take the car out and wow. First thing I noticed when leaving the drive way was that the car seemed more responsive. The sound is great, as you will see in the videos below. As for power There is a nice increase in power over stock and to me I feel like there is a little more there compared to the OPG CAI that I first had.

Yeah I will get some sound clips ASAP. Now is a great time to get a G8. They are selling used in the low 20's.

Love the sound.

It looked like all the videos linked back to the same clip.

BTW, are you still looking at doing the paint job?

No, it sits in front of the scoops. You have to tilt the radiator back so you are getting fresh air that comes in from the grills.

BW I already have the hood scoops open and it is just to help with cooling.

Holy cow that sounds awesome Charles, I want one! Is that cool sound just from adding the intake, or do you have a modified exhaust too?

It's amazing that a CAI can make the car sound like that, I'd rather hear that than a louder exhaust anyday. Does the kit include the hardware to tilt the radiator back? Also did you do the lower panel mod?

I'm not too crazy about the look of it though, it reminds me of a huge vacuum cleaner nozzle. But in this case function over form is best. Did the Roto-Fab sound pretty similar to this one? Why did you sell it, because you saw this one? I think the Roto-Fab looks cleaner on the car and like it belongs there. Hmmm...$380 is a lot for a CAI

Yeah I like the sound over a exhaust. Plus the exhaust is hard to get to sound good on these cars thanks to DOD and the odd cam usded.

I wanted a OTR from the start but no one had them out and I did not look like there would be one for some time so I went and got the OPG CAI. But these came out faster then I was thinking it would so I went ahead and got one. OTRs make 5-7 HP then a normal CAI. The kit gives you eveything you need to tilt the raditor. I did not do the LP mod but if you get a normial CAI it is a good mod to do. As for sound this make more then any of the CAI I have heard.

Actually I thought this intake in the link below was the Roto-Fab but I was wrong. I like the looks of it and has the box that deals against the hood like the K&N CAI. I would imagine this would put out more sound than the stock airbox, wouldn't it?

I'm still undecided on which one to get though, but I do like the sound of the OPG. What is the OTR? Maybe I'll wait to see what that looks like.

What you linked is the Roto Rab. OTR is what I have OTR = Over The Rad
