here is the the thoughts I will be commuting to and from school 50 miles away come this next fall semester. well I have been thinking that since the 03 is kinda a toy and I want to keep the miles off of it, I have kinda half heartedly started looking for a 98-99 ls. well here is where I think this could be beneficial get a turbo setup used and run about 6-12 psi nothing huge just enough kick. for those of you that aknow the area it is the climb over the summit and back between laramie and cheyenne wy on I 80 it goes from 6k ft here to over 8k to almost 9k then back to 7200 ft. well the initial climb from 7200 to almost 9 is like a 6% or better grade so fairly steep alot of little 4 cyls have trouble maintaining the speed. I looked at a couple 4 cyl econoboxs today and i cant justify the cost for what maybe 3-4 mpg diff of a stock ls. well you throw the turbo on there and you are close to the stock power of a gs on relatively low boost and if nothing else doing all that climbing would be more in the strong area for a turbo vs a SC. also being up this high you have to do more to compensate for it so what a 3.4 bolt on car here would run would be a stock run equalavlent at sea level. I guess what I am saying is does this all seem logical vs buying a 12k commuter car that I would hate and prolly have issues with in the winter getting there and back.

I'd say turbo 3800 vs. some little 4 banger thats really gunna work way too hard at those kind of elev. changes........Yeahh Cheyenne is pretty high up there in Elevation.......Whenever i drove out there I went from 30mpg in my GTP from NY to western Nebraska.... to about 23MPG...from Ogalalla, Neb to Cheyenne......... and that was just a steady climb from 2000-6000ft in a course of 200 miles or so.

Name: Nick
the only thing that I would be worried about is as its getting colder here my car is getting harder to start and it has a turbo running 9lbs of boost, and the fuel economy in town is around 8 mpg but out on the highway you can get like 40 which is very nice.
