Looks good man! If there's one tip I can give you... Before putting your front bumper cover on, turn the car over, put it into gear, and reverse, etc.. If you can drive it back and forth in the driveway, even better. Reason being, your intercooler pipes are very finicky as to where they can sit without causing vibration/rattling, which is annoying as hell. If you do this before the cover, you'll be able to figure out where you have some issues. Usually, just loosening a T-bolt and rotating a pipe 1/8th of an inch cures the problem. I had about 5 tweeks done on my Pt-61 setup.. I just put a T-66 in with larger piping, and I am in the same boat again. I haven't made time to fix it, I always wait until I am ready to tackle multiple jobs at the same time.

I recommend you put a clamp on your brake booster vacuum line, it always pops off...

If you find you have a vacuum leak after startup, check your EGR chimey pipe where it mounts to the lower intake. This was the culprit THREE times for my setup. I am not sure why they keep cracking... Anyways, I kept using higher mileage parts, which could be the reason. I put a low-km part on and so far so good.

Best of luck!

LOL yea probably would, but only those not familiar with forced induction.

Thanks I will definitely keep the bumper off and give it a try. I will also clamp down the Booster Vac line.

What did you do for the PCM. The turbo is literally sitting on top of it. It's making me nervous.

On my 2004, I did this-

Get some weather stripping foam, 1" wide (with adhesive backing). Cut two strips the same length of the bottom side of the PCM. Attach them on each side, so the PCM will sit flat. Position it somewhere in the fender corner where it's a safe distance from exhaust heat sources. Anything 3"+ you should be fine. Then grab two long tie straps and figure out a way to secure it to the bottom plate where the air box was. There are misc. holes, you can be creative... This will stop any vibration, and make sure nothing moves when you floor it.

It will sit flat and I can ziptie it if need be, but here's my problem:

The cold side is sitting on top of the wires going in to it.

Yeah, that won't work for sure.. You'll be facing electrical problems in NO time. Unfortunately, there's nothing else I can suggest. You'll have to find a way to route it for safety. Make sure your main harness isn't tied down to the block somewhere remote that's leaving you less slack to adjust. Just one of those things... Grab a beer and poke around the engine bay. =(

After trying a dozen different ways I finally figured something out.

Image

I ended up having to remove the clip that is by the radiator to snake the harness a little more. Then I was able to rotate the PCM just right. Then took the remaining harness(to trans) and wedged it between the drier and frame rail. Pushed the PCM down on top of it, then ziptied the wire going into the trans around the A/C line. Hopefully this helps anyone else who becomes stuck with this portion on their 97.

Jackstand racing:

New oil sending unit that is not functioning with the autometer gauge:
Image

T-fitting for the turbo oil feed line and sending unit(ignore the crappy CV boot):
Image
Image

Image

Crossover and upper dp wrapped:
Image

Had to cut off some of the bottom plastic to allow a little better clearance for the IC pipes:
Image

Everything should(in theory) be in order with where the PCM is now:
Image

TB tapped with an exhaust header stud to block off the PCV passage:
Image

External MAF installed-I actually ended up removing it due to the plastic on the bottom melting from the turbo:
Image

Ready to start:
Image

IC piping all snug and tight:
Image

Ready to drive on the road again:
Image

I still need to acquire a boost controller and fuel pump rewire. Also some fittings to try and get the previous sending unit back on. The problem I’m running into is the previous one is freaking huge and I’m limited on space. I will probably have to use a few elbows to find the right angle. Scans were decent, but still need to correct double check the vacuum lines. My scan fluctuated from -18 to -20 for the LTFT.

Forgot I had this thread here. LOL here's an update:
Resolved the hood latch issues
What you will need:
2 1/4-2 1/2 exhaust clamp (you can find them at Autozone etc)
Welder
Friend
Sandpaper
10mm socket
Rachet
Damp towel/rags
Vice grips
Remove the bolt and u portion where all that remains is this:
Image

First you need to unbolt(3 bolts 10mm) the hood latch where only the mount remains.
You will need to sand the bottom portion of the latch where the weld will take place as well as the bumper.
Your welds don't have to be perfect just as long as it holds. It will be hidden behind the cover anyways.
Go ahead and set the damp towel/rags on the bumper to cover any exposed wires.

First weld the clamp on to the bottom of hood latch mount. Make sure to get both sides and make the bead fairly thick. It should look something like this:
Image

Here's where your friend comes in handy. Have them take the vice grips and pull the clamp so it is sitting on the bumper.
Tac it real quick to hold it in place then finish your bead-again it can be crappy like mine just need it thick enough to hold:
Image

Reinstall the latch and adjust up/down as needed. Give the hood a little drop and watch it snap in place.
Image

Went ahead and wrapped the turbo and reinstalled the external MAF. Seems to be running much better. Next paycheck I'm getting a threaded IAT and I'm tapping the TB where the stock MAF goes.
Here's how it looks now with the turbo wrapped:
Image

Image

Found a place for the PCM that is away from the Turbo and cleaned up the engine bay a little. :headbang:

Ordered the new badging for the GTP:

Image

Hope to have someone call BS.

They will be placed were the factory GTP badging was.

I also ordered the valve cover breather as I'm borrowing Jeffs(David's son w/Regal).
Image

And last but not least a 2.5" exhaust flange so I can weld it on my factory exhaust and bolt it on. No more race car exhaust. FTMFW. It will be nice to be back in stealth mode.
Image

Time to get to work. Fuel pump arrived:
Image

Started fuel pump replacement. GM was kind enough to design an access panel in the trunk area. Removed the nuts holding it down and here is the module it's in. You can I had already started removing the lines:
Image

Clip was removed with a screwdriver:
Image

Image

Pump and bucket dismantled:

All back together and ready for reinstall:
Image

I'll be working on getting the c clip reinstalled today and it's gonna be a PITA.

Cut the downpipe off the catback. I'll get the flange welded to the catback later:

Turbo snuggie installed:
Image

Also replaced the tensioner as it was squealing for dear life. It's actually an entire bracket that is all one piece:
Image
Image

Image

Hopefully I'll be able to update this thread again soon as I have a plog, 1.9 rockers, wideband, and a trans cooler waiting to be installed.

Poly Mounts installed
I ordered these from wbody store due to the price compared to ZZP. Unfortunetly they only come in red, but for the price they could be pink for all I care. :D
Image

Since my driveway is inclined fairly well I opted to do these one at a time:
Image
Image

The difference between stock and aftermarket:
Image

Image

Image

What's left of the stock ones:
Image

I'm not gonna lie that was a big PITA. Getting them through involved multiple beatings with a hammer. The first mount was lubed with liquid wrench. The 2nd one I used oil which seemed to work a little better.

-- Tue Jan 17, 2012 12:47 am --

Installed the stainless powerlog last night:

Fuel has been leaking badly at the top of the fuel rail where the 3/8ths line connects.

Factory line cut:

Replacement line:

Soaking the factory line in boiling water:

Barb fitting in place:

New replacement installed:

-- Tue Jan 17, 2012 12:50 am --

Before:ImageAfter:ImageA couple of changes-Tee'd the vacuum line by coolant bottle to the LIM.
Removed the line from the top of the wastegate and allowed to vent to air.
Figured out the bottom of wastegate supposed to go to boost controller.
Gave BOV its own vacuum source to throttle body.

Yeah for pink upper engine mounts now. :poorain:

Modifed 1.9 rockers are installed.

First thing was to remove the battery and coil packs. The dog bone mount attached to the engine hang over the valve cover.

Image
Image

Valve cover was fairly dirty:
Image

After some light scrubbing:
Image

Pedestal in place:
Image

1.9's getting some lube:
Image

Installed:
Image

When I got to the rear There was a bolt under the upper down pipe. To get to it I had to pry it then finagle the rachet. Ended up being a PITA. Finally I had to disconnect the wastegate from the upper down pipe. This allowed enough movement to pull the valve cover.

Finally back to the rockers:
Image
Image

Valve cover was more dirty than the front. Got it cleaned up and reinstalled:
