What is the best boost controller and turbo timer to get? Not going to be getting a turbo anytime soon, but I'll like to familiarize myself before I actually have the money.

oh, and since since I have a GT- do I still have to get a new tranny chain?

Get a Turbonetics, TurboXS, or even a cheap ebay boost controller to save cash, and instead of running a turbo timer just let your car idle for 15 min. before shutting it off after a hard run.

You can get a turbo timer off ebay for like $40. Might as well get one instead of waiting in your car for 15min.

I believe the car should idle a surtain amount of time even after any usuage to keep the turbo well mantained- would be worth the money instead of waiting in my car at idle everytime..

I've also pulled the trigger and decided to go turbo. I'm piecing the kit together so far I've maybe spent $500 and got a 48mm wastegate, large air-to-air intercooler, t66 turbo, and 3inch intercooler piping.

I'm saving up like 10K so I can just put everything in at the same time.

New tranny
Z7 turbo w/ inter cooler
Heads
rockers
Stamma Stage 1 Cam
JE forged pistons w/ L32 forged rods (to avoid what happened to Rodman...)

My Bad..  I thought it was the boost that killed the piston.

How has your engine held up to the turbo so far? Has anyone had problems with the pistons with the turbo?

Maybe I could just get the turbo and tranny and wait for the other stuff later.

Listen to Jeremy (mistowomofo). He knows way more than anyone else I know about turbochargers, or just automotive shit in general.

Hey guys,

I embarked upon my turbo journey as well and here is how i spent my $5000 so far. I bought:

a 1998 2 door gtp
XP cam
zzp trans
t70 turbo kit
42mm race waste gate
50mm tial bov mounted on IC
full FMIC
stattama turbo tubulular headers
3'' tog catback
~S3 ported heads
gutted blower casing
PRJ blue fuel rails

im just going to grab 65# injectors and throw her in

IMHO turbo supporting mods = pems or headers, decent catback, injectors, fuel pump rewire (if using stock pump), and a TUNE. The rest can be mickey moused to an extent ;)
