I am wondering if anyone can clear something up for me...

i put an 05 pcm in my 07, and it ran just fine, but i'm hearing that the first 3 #'s of both pcm's are supposed to match in order to be compatible. is this true? my 05 starts with 125, and the 07 starts with 126. is there any way that i could do a full write or anything to get them compatible? i really want to safely tune this pcm. all input is appreciated! thanks

^I think that's maybe why some guys have to do a CASE learn, because the car detects that the PCM and the vehicle itself don't match up. Some people are okay after a PCM swap, and some people are forced to get a CASE learn done to their vehicle with the new PCM in it. It's just hit or miss on whether or not it has to be done on some vehicles; but since you said "everything was okay" I'm guessing youre good to go...? bump for someone who may have more knowledgeable input

well, i will keep you updated, it seems as though i'm just going to have to do a write entire to the pcm, and it should work. i will do that as soon as i get my car back from the shop. i think i busted a CV joint today...

omg, yeah, to say the least......Yeah, i think that whine you hear while accelerating is the supercharger ;-) JUST kidding, lol. You just gonna get some stock replacements or are you considering maybe some Stage2 or 3 axles from ZZP?

found out it was just low power steering fluid! that was a nice and easy $2 fix! i'm gonna go down to FL for spring break, and i'm leaving Wed., so when i get back, i'm gonna get that pcm going fo sho!

so, i've got my vacuum leak figured out (i think), and now i'm trying to tackle the write entire. i don't know which vin to put in. the one that the 05 pcm is from, or my 07 vin? anyone have any insight on this? also, would someone be willing to look at my scan to tell me if its safe to run on my vehicle???

i gained a ton of knowledge today! this applies to those tuning 05 pcms in 06+ vehicles...

alright, so for those of you that don't know this, you must write your current vin into your pcm so that it matches the bcm! another thing i learned today is that your radio is connected to the obd2 whatever, so you must pull your radio's fuse in order to flash to your pcm! another thing that was recommended to me was to have someone scan my pcm with a powrtuner so that i can have a .bin file and use tiny tuner to edit my data. i will then be able to flash these tables to the pcm using hpt!

wow...i'm learning so much from this!!!

ok, my 05 is running in the 07 now, but i'm still throwing body codes. wtf? it wont let me change my vin for some reason. it keeps coming up with an error that reads 'invalid vin'

I'm running a 2005 PCM in my 2006, my VIN was never inputed into the PCM, I have an Overkill PCM and he never asked for my VIN. When we first put the PCM in, it wouldn't start, so we did security relearn, and the car started.

update: i have deleted all the codes and set them to not report and no ses lights. i still need an 02 extension harness also since my headers install. one of the codes that i'm getting is the cat diagnostic. it seems to be pulling fuel because of this as well. i really need to do a MAF tune, but i'm not sure which type of MAF tuning i can do with this pcm. i don't know if i can do speed density, or if i can do VE. i'm still new to this, so i'll have to keep learning on the way...

iirc dont mess with VE tuning until you get the MAF tuning straightened out first. I think a MAF tune and a VE tune are two different things. and Im sure the CAT diagnostic code you're getting is from the front O2 sensor harness not being hooked up, although im not sure why the front O2 sensor, the pre-cat sensor, would be throwing a CAT Diagnostic code since it's before the CAT....did you get rid of the rear O2 sensor also or something??
