I know some of the basics from playing around tuning my Regal.....and the GTP. I've never fooled around with an L36 tune before tho....

I'm not trying to get too in depth here.....just want to basically do some torque management changes and better shifts.

Just kind of asking for anyone's suggestions where to start and what to pay attention to on a near stock L36. Will be putting in my ZZP 2.5'' catted DP soon...and run a gutted airbox. I don't want to kill the mileage too much....but wuld like to wake it up just a tad.

For mileage on the higway, up the timing as far is it'll stand it. Using the throttle percentage vs AFR tables, lean it way out. I ran a 16.6:1 AFR on the highway with 50* of timing. It was awesome. Get rid of TM, up the line pressures, and maybe bring the shift points up 200rpm or so.

As for upping the line pressures.....What would you recommend? Taking the line pressures that are say on the Perf. Shift tables on my Regal or GTP and using those?

Yup, that's exactly what I did. Used the perf shift for the regular, and then maxed out the ones for perf shift. My PCM was jumpered to always be in perf shift, and that thing would absolutely bang through the gears. It was fabulous.

Yeah I'll definately try that stuff at some point this week. I've never messed with timing before...so I'm not really sure where to start on that.....the GSE and GTP are still running on stock timing tables believe it or not.

Timing is so tricky. Get Eddie's Tuning Thingie (yes, that's the real name), and it will walk you through changes to make in timing and fueling.
