The reason you can't tune yet is because the 06 uses the CAN Bus instead of OBD-II. The tuning companies haven't adopted it yet.

No CAN in 06. I scan with LS1M. If we were CAN, LS1M would not work. Pontiac got smart and introduced additional tourque management and changed the whole processor configuration. This was done to reduce the warranty tranny repairs.
As Jester said HP tuners is working it. They have been blowing sunshine up my AZZ for the last year telling me it will be done in the next 3 months. I have my doubts that it really will happen. It gets pushed out again and again. As much as I hate to say it I've pretty much come to the conlcusion that it's not going to happen. We can't even swap out the PCM with an 04/05 because of the tranny and BCM differences.

Yeah it really sucks but I dont know if they are ever going to support 06+ but that is not going to stop me from emailing them like crazy. I am not giving up.

BUMP to this. They been doin the same ot me since begining last summer. i just gave up and figured if they are theyll get it out. if not, well what am i to do about it.

BUT, if you want, i say we pick a date or 2 or a week, and drop the line on all the GP forums and PM people with the emial to HP or DHP and every GP owner 04+ (just for the extra help) email them.

I mean, same day, at once. OR everyday once for a week and keep doing that.
heck just kep sending them the same exact email everyday, we all check our mail at least once a day, just click, SENT then ReSEnd.

I think theyd eventually get the point. add up all th eemail as if they were moeny orders, and see how much theyd pull in.

Heck, i talked to cartuning, 3 turbo kits for the 06+ went out already and they said all 3 reported no issue after install as of yet.

Yep, I emailed cartuning last year and asked how they would get around the tuning issue for 06 cars and they replied by saying they plan on using a 04 or 05 PCM.

Based on this info and some recent info on the other forum. I decided to go out on a limb and give the 05 PCM a try. It should be here next Tuesday. I'll report back with my results. If all goes well I'll be in the hunt for a Powertuner or if I hit the lottery I'll throw the yahoos at HPtuners $$ so I can properly tune this biotch.

Ha LMAO,
After ordering the PCM and going through all that. ZZP emails me back and says this:
I would love to send you a pcm but the one you ordered, has different sensors programmed into it that wont work. That is a supercharged pcm, you are not supercharged. I am going to hold the pcm order until I hear back from you. I would rather send you a 05 GT pcm than an incorrect 05 GTP pcm.

My response:
Well thanks but I'm a little brighter than that. I am supercharged brother. 06 GT is L32 they dropped the GTP badge in 06 the base grand prix is N/A. So thanks for checking. I have all your stuff on my car. PLOG, rear PEM, 3" DP high flow cat. Corsa catback exhaust. running mini AFC 2.0 and your 3.5 pulley. Now I need that PCM.

So yea I guess somehow you were missinformed about the 06 GT.
Thanks for you help.

Yea it kind of pisses me off in a way. At the track guys walk up to my car and look at my dial in time and say.... how you running that time with a GT.

Maybe I should put a sticky note with a P next to the GT

I can't bracket race yet. I'm WAAAYYY too inconsistent. Just need some practice and get used to the car this year with pulley and crap. :D

OK to get back on topic:
jester voiced a concern about the possibility of loosing the remote start function when doing the 05 PCM swap.

I did some investgation into the remote start feature. I was concerned because my car has remote start as well.

Good news. The remote start feature and electronics are contained in the Body Control Module (BCM). The communication for the remote start is done entirely through the DIC and BCM only. The PCM will not interfere with the remote start function.

I found the info in the service manual under "Keyless Entry System Description and Operation"

I received tracking info for the PCM it will be here Tuesday 3/11.
Kind of pisses me off that zzp charged me for a 7.5lb ship package and UPS shows it as 2.4lbs.

So with shipping charges and me eating the core charge this experiment put me in the hole $226.52. I sure hope it works. If not someone is going to get a deal on a 2005 gtp ZZP PCM. :D

i talked with zooomer a while ago and he said that they are waiting on support from HPTuners. this is for the NA and SC 06+s. the GXPs currently have tuning support, through HPT i believe.

Yea as we all have been waiting for 2 years.

HPTuners have done SQUAT.

I cant believe ZZP was so misinformed about us 06+ GT's kinda scary.

Its just that since they do not have a system for the 06+ for sure to work, they wont tell us another one will. Not tryin to make us wait but, even if they test the 05 whatever, and it does work, why even make an 06+ only PCM? Ya dig?
Im glad to hear that the non-S/Ced guys may have something coming but as i said previously...nothing new to hear.

So if it works for you stonewall, would a different model work for the non-S/Ced guys?

Yes. They would use the 05 GT PCM (the one ZZP tried to send me before they realized they didn't know shit about our cars).

The more I've been looking through the service manual at the PCM control scheme the more I'm convinced this should work without a hitch.

The fact of the matter is. As shown by the lack of knowlege by ZZP about the 06 GT reinforces the fact that none of the vendors are familiar with our year cars. I would be willing to bet that HP tuners does not even have a test car for the 06+. I tried for the last year to purchase a used 06GT PCM from Ed Morad and he had nothing to offer. So I beleive our only hope for real world tuning is to try this swap.

agreed. sometimes we just gotta go for it, youre either a savior or an idiot, but if you look into things enough you'll end up fine.

if it all goes well for you stonewall, i may be the first to do it for N/A. The few of us that there is...

I forsee my next hurdle will be getting a case learn done. This will be required to re-calibrate the crankcase and cam position sensors so the PCM can provide proper fuel and timing. I'm thinking not only will this be needed but a security learn will probably be a good idea as well. I'll know better the route I take when the PCM is here. A security learn can be done without a tuner but the case learn will require a tuner or tech II.

Sounds like a good excuse to get a tuner.
