well my teacher has taken up a strong interest in my car :D
he is also a drag racer, so we where talking and the old carb motors have devices for them to limmit timing for luanch so they do not do a roasty. we where looking at what the TC system dose: retared timing, pull fuel, engage ABS (on some cars). it works by getting wheel speed sence signals of wheel spin

so if you re-wright it so it only retareds timing and make it activate when there is no movement from any wheel (the car is staged and is standing still) you could launch the car with almost no wheel spin.

so the question i have is there a way to get at the Traction Controle system? is it in the PCM or the BCM?

if any one had any other ideas please post!!!!! :D

Oh my the public school system is failing us......

Oh and slicks are the best option to prevent wheel spin on the launch.

our TC system knocks down timing but it lasts for a while
i can light the tires up and it will feel slugish for about 20 mins

PCM. There are 7 steps of TCS which retard a certain amount of timing and shut off individual fuel injector. When I tuned my car, I set them all to 0 and its very easy to light up the tires in my car. :D My buddy with a GTP did that to his and if you WOT it from a stop it revs all the way up to 6000RPM then shifts into second gear and gets slow acceleration.

good to know i might try it then where you able to see any of the speed sensor inputs or no?

This is what I did. My 'low trac' light comes on all the time if I'm romping on it and don't push the trac off button. It's nice to light up the tires and not get that ghey 'sputter sputter putt putt' feeling.

Cheap way is to go easy on the gas. Slowly step on the first 1/8 or so, then hammer it. Not so cheap way it to get your PCM tuned and have the TC settings modified plus the cheap way. Slicks will also help. The expensive way is to buy an '04+. The TC is better, but still not perfect.

The cheapest way is learn how to launch the car with TCS off. That's what I did. Took a few tries, but I'm good at it now.

You can't change logic with the tuners we have access to. We can only change values/tables. We can't alter the logic but for some things it would be nice if you could.

i know it bites i wanted retared timing to zero degrees at zero wheel speed but as soon as it started moving and in 2nd gear to bump the timming up to 30* and function normaly from there
