Hello guys, got a 2006 GT (L32) with tap shift and 2.93 gears.
I'm running a 2005 PCM, however my tap shift doesn't work, is there a setting in HP tuners to enable tap shift? Should I use a 2005 Comp G file as a base instead to get tap shift to work? Right now when I put it in "M" for tap shift, it just says "3" on the DIC, I assume the PCM thinks I have a regular GT moved the shift lever into manual 3.

Are you tuning it yourself or did you buy a PCM from a vendor?

Yes, only the CompG's had TapShift and in order for it to work with your vehicle you need a CompG PCM with TapShift programmed into it already, you cannot do anything with TapShift with HPTuners. I really hope you got a CompG TapShift transmission as well, otherwise it still wont work properly because the transmission valve bodies are different between regular GTPs and CompG's with TapShift. Also you stated you have an L32 with 2.93 gears...ALL CompG's had 3.29 gears. Which further leads me to believe that TapShift was an aftermarket addition to your car. More info please.....?

Got my tap shift to work, used a 2005 Comp G as a base file instead of 2005 GTP.
Comp G or GTP hardware is the same, it's the program that is different.

Glad to hear you got it figured out! My base model GP with 3.29(CompG) gear upgrade isn't liking the new gears too much...im hoping a GTP PCM will help....guess I'll hafta see. Good to know it's just the software that's different

yeah that's what I said. Then again, today I saw a Chevy Cobalt "Sport" today, NOT an SS, and it was turbocharged...stock turbo badging/emblems. I was like....wtf?? GM is so fking confusing sometimes.....lol

GM loves to be confusing...lol If someone has a brochure for 2006, they'll see tapshift was an option on 2006 GT's, although besides mine I've never seen\heard of any non GXP\Comp G owners with tap shift.

it makes sense kinda....even though they stopped making "CompG's", they kept the TapShift around for the GXPs.....I dont see why they wouldnt continue to let the V6 GPs have TapShift as well. Althought I thought that back in '05 that was one of the main marketing gimmicks for the CompG, the fact that TapShift was exclusive to only CompGs and GXP models(and at this time "GXP" didn't exist, iirc). learn something new every day.....
