Some of the advantages of living in Southern Ontario is that there is a)an abundance of GPs and b) you are able to access the services of Wil "Overkill" from Overkill Motorsports (the 3800 tuning guru himself) for PCM re-learns and tuning.

I was lucky enough to have Will do my car this past Sunday at our first major Ontario club meet of the year.

Meet Mr. Will Overkill as he tunes my ride...

BTW tuning included a highway run with all equipment in place.

Prob not the best pic, I kinda caught him off gaurd, but he gave me his blessing to post some pics, LOL...

So now my car is set up for better in town "cruising" fuel economy based on my driving habits, but also more ponies when I put my foot into it, shifts are more crisp, and another noticeable change is that there are no flat spots in the power band or hesitation under throttle (ie lag), the fans are now set to run for 1 minute when the car is turned off when over a certain temperature, and the AC will turn off under extreme excelleration and turn itself back on when back to normal driving conditions...

I gotta tell you, the car feels and responds so much better than before... Probably the BEST bang for the buck mod Ive done yet.

Highly recommend. ;)

Here is the link to Wil's website:

PS: The topic of GPONA when we went for a test ride in my car... I wouldnt be surprised if Will makes his presence known on this board sometime soon in the Vendor section and/or elsewhere. Great guy to talk to and deal with. I will be back to see him again when the car is further modded.

depends on your definition of tune...i had mine done to take advantage of the lower thermostat with fan settings and such as well as quickening up shifts and such...def worth it..besides if you find someone with an hp tuner to do it..your in the computer for when you start modding

Tuning a N/A car is benifitial, you can modify your tranny setting to take advantage of your powerband, and improve your fuel economy. As far as peak horsepower the gains might be minimal, but that is not as important as horsepower increases over the entire power band.

^^Wise words... and this is the main difference Im feeling now... More solid throttle response/better shifting/wider use of the power band, no flat spots.

;)
