Are DHP's locked so that you can't tune them at a later time? I thought I read that somewhere once?

I'm supposed to have a Tuner coming, but it's takin a little longer than expected and with the deal Qball is givin, I wouldn't mind shellin out the $65 to get that to hold me over until I get the tuner. But only if I can tune it once I get the tuner.

Thanks,

brick, I found this online. Read the last post on this forum page. The guy says DHP doesn't lock the PCM's anymore.

I guess it might depend on when it was bought.

Here is another post in a forum where a guy says he bought a DHP PCM two years ago and it wasn't locked. But one guy says he thought they were.

I'm still undecided on who to go with....between DHP and ZZP!

I would go with DHP I'm pretty sure that there have been guys have strange problems with tranny settings and other stuff from ZZP. Of course if you have anything other than basic mods you really need a tuner or get a custom tune from someone.

When I go to order it I'll have:

PEM, gutted airbox/ K&N, resonator delete, and autolite plugs (not sure which ones) and MAYBE mufflers!

That will be fine. You won't need any extra tuning for that. I have a DHP with my mods (filter, downpipe, exhaust, plugs, wires, ignition coils) and haven't have any issues. I even kept my rear O2 sensor on my new downpipe and it was fine.

Overkill?

Overkill x2! :D The biggidy bomb!

His site is in the works and won't do you much good. http://www.getoverkilled.ca/

You need to email him to get a PCM. He can take a while to get back to you depending on his workload (he is a one man show) but it is worth it brother!

I bought mine a few months back and he quoted me this:
If you're in the US, the price is $169 plus $20 to ship. If you're in
Canada, price is $199CDN.
Fully refundable $75 core charge is required to ship a PCM in advance.

I bet prices have changed but that gives you a ball park figure. His email is: willtheoverkill@hotmail.com

Wish we could get him to set up shop here.

EDIT: His website is up now! Woohoo! :D

Will at overkill is offering 50% off for anyone with an aftermarket reprogrammed PCM from another programmer. DHP, ZZP, etc. Pretty good deal. Wish I had bought one someone else wanted to get rid of and sent it to him. Would have been a great deal.

I have the ZZP. I picked that one because the DHP at wbodystore.com would not delete the rear O2.

I have had no problems with the ZZP and would pick one up again.

They are also unlocked.

Will (overkill) tunes each PCM specific to each car/mods. Just email him and see what he says. Not really sure what gains you would see being a "basically stock" GT but it may surprise you. :D

Just shoot him an email. He'll answer any questions you may have.

Overkill does a lot of changes that have nothing really to do with your mods. Since you are a performance enthusiast (otherwise you wouldn't bother with a PCM) he can make changes geared to you. The factory has to make them work for people ranging from old grannies to pimple faced teenagers. He does a lot with the tranny, and he sets up the cooling around a 180* thermostat. He will also add more timing, etc. So yes, there are a lot of gains to be had even on a stock motor.

You can read more about it:

Well, first off the 06 is an issue in it's self. You'll have to get an 05 PCM to be tuned as per the post here:

Read it, it's great info.

I have an 05 GT2 with a K & N CAI and an Overkill PCM and that's it. Works just awesome and you'll be surprised at how big the difference is.
