I have posted this up on the powertuner forum, but have had no luck. I am looking to you guys for help now. I'll just copy and paste my original post from over there;
"So I d/led the version 1.2.3F which I was told is the 1.2.4 version?(according to the link on this site) I downloaded the program for the keyspan off of this site, along with the frame 1.1. When I tried to d/l the MDAC 2.8 I got a message that said,"MDAC 2.8 RTM is incompatible with this version of windows. All of its features are currently part of windows" (I am running XP) I then tried to download the JET file and this is the message that I got for that, "setup has detected that the service pack version of this system is newer than the update that you are applying. There is no need to install this update. (I am running the servide pack 2 for xp)

So when I hook the power tuner up to my car to register it, this is the message that I get after it tries to read the pcm. I am getting an "error #66, Severity 1, Unable to intialize Access List." After I get this error message, the program will no longer load and I have to uninstall it and reinstall it if I want to try again. When I first got the 1.2.3F installed and went out to my car I received the error #67 message which had something to do with the startup screen could not intialize... Does anyone know what this means? More importantly, does anyone know how to fix it?

The number on my tuner is 28/815801... Don't know if that helps at all. I have my COM port set as 1 and the keyspan port is set at 4. When I go in to register I saved the port as 4 and the baud as 115,200. I made sure that the baud on the COM port and keyspan were both set at 115,200. This is really frustrating, especially since I have to keep uninstalling and re-installing the program just to try to get it to communicate. Thanks in advance for all of your help."

Any suggestions?

Your comport should be set to COM 4 if your keyspan is on COM 4

From what I recall, my laptop will not let me put the COM and the keyspan on the same port.

As you can see, my Keyspan is on COM port 5 and my PT port selection is set to COM 5. They have to match in order for the computer to communicate with the PT.

I will give it another try sometime this week. But what I am saying is, I don't think my computer would let the COM port and key span port be the same number. Unless I have the wrong com ports...

Ok, so I went out to the car and gave it another shot. I had the keyspan on COM 1 and the DHP on COM 1. While trying to register the cable I get the same message, "cable is unable to register" and that is followed by Error #67, Severity 1, Unable to Retrieve QuickStartScreenStatus : Please contact DHP support at support@digitalhorsepowerinc.com

Now I tried it again by switching the COM ports both to COM 6 on the keyspan and on the DHP program and got the Error #67 again.

What I need to know is, if you go into the device manager located in the properties of My Computer then click on Ports, what should the Communications Port be on? Should the Communications port be the same as the keyspan and dhp program?

The green light was blinking on the keyspan, the red light was blinking on the tuner and I was running the 1.2.3F program.

Does the fact that I am running an Overkill pcm (which is locked) have to do with aything? I should be able to read it, just not write over it, correct?
Anyone?

That might be the trouble right there. Got any friends with 3800 powered cars you can test it out on?

That's probably your problem. I believe they are locked from reading so that the competition can't see the changes Will made and then use them for their PCMs.

Ok, but here is the funny thing, I have 4 pcm's for my car. 1 Overkill, 1 DHP, and 2 stockers. I have tried installing the stock pcm and then running the power tuner. I believe that was when I was getting the Error #66 code. I talked to DHP years ago and they assured me that their pcm was not locked, but yet I could not get the power tuner to connect to that either.

So if I install my stock pcm again, do just the keyspan com port and power tuner com ports have to be the same? Or do I have to make the Communications COM port in device manager the same as the keyspan and dhp tuner?

Actually my mom has a '04 impala with a 3.8 in it. That might be easier to try it out on, rather than swap out my pcm.

Yeah, give it a shot on the Impala. You shouldn't have had a problem reading the DHP PCM, though.

Well, I bought the DHP pcm back in 8/05 and from what people tell me, 2005 is around the time that DHP stopped locking their pcm's. For all I know I could have gotten one that was laying around and is still locked.

Shouldn't matter. The DHP software would read it. My DHP PCM is locked, but I have no trouble reading it.

Hate to be a P.I.T.A. but I am still looking for the answer to this question.

So if I install my stock pcm again, do just the keyspan com port and power tuner com ports have to be the same? Or do I have to make the Communications COM port in device manager the same as the keyspan and dhp tuner?

Yes. The COM port setting in the PT software just tells the software where the data will be coming from. The data will be coming from the keyspan.

Data flow

PCM-PTbox-keyspan-COM port-PT software

If the software is not set to the same port as the keyspan, it will never see any data. Also, you shouldn't have to change anything in the device manager. You can look there to see where the keyspan is located, but then use the PT software to point the COM port that the keyspan is on.

After hooking the power tuner up to my moms '04 impala and I now receiving this error message, "error #66, Severity 1, Unable to intialize Access List." I am at a lost. Once I get that error message the program will not open anymore. I have to uninstall the program and re-install it. I've been fighting with this thing since march. I tried changing com ports a couple of times and same result on each. I tried com port 1, 4, and 6. 4 and 6 were not in use by any other programs and port 1 was being used by the communications port in the device manager. At this point, I am just ready to sell this thing unless I can get some help.

I wonder if the breakout box has failed. Something seems really funny. Can you try it with another PC? I would try to eliminate as many items as you can being the trouble.

OK, trying to figure this I noticed the statement above.. Your keyspan adapter didn't have a disc with it? Also, with my new laptop, when I plugged the keyspan into the USB port, it automatically installed the software.

Make sure you have the driver installed for your USB to Serial device.
