i am supposed to be receiving my HPTuner in the mail today. i am wondering if there is a thread/link/etc. that can tell me exactly what it is that i need to do? i.e. does the program come with instructions on what i need to do to hook up my laptop to the pcm? also, do i need to do anything with my 07 pcm before i take it out? also, is there a site that shows basic tune setups so that i don't go too far and cause an issue? like, what are safe parameters to stay in?

i know these are noob questions, but i figure that with some help i will be able to make it through this  . this is my first vehicle, and my first time tuning. i want to be very cautious with it, and i don't want to mess with too much. any information/tips/advice people can provide is appreciated. i will be waiting until i feel that i have a decent grasp on what i will be doing before i try to tune the pcm though. i want to make sure all my ?'s are answered before i tackle this...

just so everyone knows, i did buy an 05 pcm to tune. i know that my gas gauge will read backwards, but that is about all i know so far. i am definitely going to have to do some reading before i will be able to tune it. my car only has a FWI as of right now, so i will not need to change too much.

John,

Is your supercharged? i would think so but thought i would ask. I have a tune that you can base yours off of for a good starter. Its not in hpt format but if i recall hptuner can read bin files.
