I have a 2005 gp with an l32 swap. On my aeroforce and LS1M my map and boost readings are the same, when ever i get into any boost they both go right up to 14.3. On my mechanical boost gauge the highest i ever saw was 10psi. Is it possible that i have something wired wrong. Also on my dic that also goes right to full boost. I have been getting codes for intermittent high voltage on my map and one that says high voltage on my map. I have a new map sensor coming this week. Does any one have any suggestions. Thanks for any input..

start by replacign the sensor, and cleaning the maf wont hurt either. it coudl have gotten dirty getting shipped to you or been diry beforehand.

if those dont fix it, start to look over all the wiring to make sure everything is right. its obviously an electical/sensor/wiring problem since the mechanical gauge that works off vaccuum read 10psa, which sounds pretty accurate for your mods.,

I cleaned the maf about 3 weeks ago. I hope it is just the sensor. Will a bad map cause the car to break up under boost?

i would think so. what kPa is the map reading at under boost? it shoudl be around 100-110 i think.

NP.

as a last resort, remember that new sensors can be bad too. unlikely but its possible.

I will keep that in mind. Is there a way to test the sensor or is it just if you get the code it is usually bad? Again thanks

I checked my aeroforce tonight and the kpa would go right to 200 as soon as i got into any boost. That doesn't sound right. Any thoughts???

um 200 kPa is roughly 29 psi...thats very bad. the sensor or the wiring is way screwy. 100kPa is like a maxium of what most of us reach when boosting because its like 14.5 psi of boost..

personally i see 100 kPa or less, but never more.

and i would guess if you get the code its probabaly bad. that or the wiring somhow isnt workign out.

did you swap the wiring harness and pcm in with the new motor?

I added the wiring for the baro sensor and the bbv and the pcm came from overkill. Those readings might explain why the car breaks up bad at any boost over 5psi. I will try the new sensor and if that doesn't do it i will look for a complete harness out of a gtp

yeah start with the easy stuff first. swapping the whole wiring harness and pcm shoudl be the last resort.

Ok I changed the map sensor and my kpa goes up to 150 and my boost now only goes up to 10psi as apposed to before when it went up to 14.3psi but the car still breaks up under full boost but not as bad. Any ideas, should i go ahead and change the fuel pump. I now of a few people who have done a top swap and not had any problems with the stock fuel pump. I have the AL104's in it should I change them to something different??????

150 kPa is still like 21 lbs of boost...maybe get 605's instead of 104's but thats completely unrelated to the map issue.

yeah thats really strange but its gotta be an electircal or wiring problem if the mechanical gauge shows like 10 lbs..

Ya my aeroforce is now reading correctly for boost but the map is still going up to 150 kpa. My fuel trims are back to normal at the most i see 2.3 but mostly 0.0. The code for the map sensor is also gone now. But still can't go over 5psi or she falls on her face. I also put my a/f on misfires and it shows none. Not really sure where to go from here. Anything else you recommend looking into?

I also have the code 2101 which i have only seen once before it says it is P2101 - Control Module Throttle Actuator Position Performance.

:?:
150kpa is little over 7 pounds of boost.

To convert kilopascals to pounds per square inch, multiply the kpa value by .14503773773020923

150 kpa * 0.14503773773020923 = 21.7556606595313845

almost 22 psi..

You need to subtract 100 first. 100kpa is sea level.

doesnt the car's barometer account for that? i dont get over 100 kpa on my aeroforce gauge.

No, the Grand Prix's only have a 2-bar map sensor. The most they can read is 14 pounds. Anything under 100kpa is vacuum.

At idle it should be below 100, at WOT it should be above. Depends on your mods how much boost you should see.

Ok I think I finally got it. I replaced the map sensor and i found a bad spark plug wire so I changer the plugs and the wire. Now i can go wot at full boost and she goes like hell with no break up. Thanks for all of your help..
