I really want to get a VE tune in, but I'll stick with the MAF for now.

For the VE I think that zeroing out all the tables would be the same as unplugging the MAF. Being a rookie tuner, I'm a little leary about blindly trying new things. I'd cry like a little girl if I did anything stupid enough to cause damage.

I've been going over the Timing tabel section. I don't have good fuel spark and bad fuel spark. I do have high octane and low octane. Are these the same thing??

Just starting out, it's best to change one thing at a time. Never jump in and make several changes at once. Through trial and error you'll start to see how changing certain tables affect the performance of the car.

The good fuel spark is the timing table used when your car has little to no knock, which is what it should be with higher octane. As the PCM starts to detect knocking, it will change the spark setting to something between the 2 tables to reduce the chances of knocking. If there is a lot of knock, it will eventually switch to the bad fuel table. Also, if you run low octane, it will default to the bad fuel table. So that being said, those are probably the same tables just with a different name.

Blackwood,
Just out of curiosity, what tables does the PT offer for PE?

HPT has:
PE Enable Delay vs. TPS
PE Enable TPS Hot
Power Enrichment Base AFR vs. ECT
Fuel Adder vs. TPS
Fuel Adder vs. RPM vs. Time

PowrTuner PE Tables are:

Base PE_A/F
PE_RPM vs Time_A/F
PE_TPS_AirFuel
Startup A/F Adjustment by Coolant Temp
PE_Enable_TPS

Can anyone with a DHP Power Tuner send me a .csv file of any scan?? sc3800@gmail.com

I've been tryng all night to load my csv from HPT into the Table Modifier Thingy and it will not load. So I started striping the header info and it takes it, but I get this a warning telling me that the program only uses fuel cells 0 -4 and mine are 0 - 2037. It has my frames and FTC confused. It will let me see the data but I cannot edit it.

Long story short, I want to see what header info the PT puts on it's .csv file and use that format on my scan.

Thanks!

Are you using the HPT setting in the SDT, or is it set to DHP still?

I didn't see where I could change it. I saw that I could import a csv form LSm1, Auto tap or DHP. The DHP seemed to work best. I'm using SDT 6.0 from the link in the sticky.

Figured it out. I had an outdated version. 6.9 is the lastest.

On the 6.0 version it doen't have the HPT option. I found a different site to download it from and it had the 6.9 version. So now I'm good.

I have version 4 that only shows DHP, AutoTap & LS1M. I haven't tuned in a long time since it seems to be running just fine, so I never saw the need to update.

This is the only place you should be able to DL the SDT:

I first got it here: http://rapidshare.com/files/78014378/Table_Modifier.zip

I used the one at: http://theblattners.com/projects/tablem ... fault.html for what I have now.

I've built the bin file and loaded it last night. I'm itching for some free time to drive and really get this thing tuned. I've had HPT for while now and as my luck would have it; longer days and work, sick babies and a long list of 'extra' chores because family is coming soon.

You guys have been awesome!

Just wanted to say thanks again! My LTFT is slowly moving towards 0. I didn't realize how long this was going to take; whew!

It takes longer to tune an 04+ than it did for the older cars. Those guys only had to wait about 20 minutes before they could scan again and get usable numbers. We have to wait a day or so for the PCM to settle down before we can get anything useful.

After I reset my Fuel Trims I drive to and from work for two days and use the scan on the way home on day 2. About 30 minutes one way; so ~2 hours of drive time and 4 warm up cycles. Is that enough??

That should do. When I was tuning my ltft's, I'd scan on my way home from work. (40 miles) I'd make my changes that night and then drive back and forth to work for the next day or so and then do it again until my ltft's stayed around zero.

Almost perfect now. Took awhile because I cracked my flexplate and it sat in the shop for almost two weeks.

I started a SD (Speed Density) tune, also know as a VE (Volumetric Efficiency) tune, on my 04 at the beginning of this year but put it on hold while I was changing the LIM gasket. I used a couple small spade connectors to make a connection to the 2 pins on the maf that are used for the temp sensor. Doing this allows you to read IAT while defaulting to the disconnected maf values. I've just started tuning again but haven't started the VE tune yet. I have gotten my fuel injectors close but I'm having to redo almost everything I had tuned from before the LIM. It's amazing how much burning coolant changes the tuning, lol. I've also noticed it takes several 100 miles for fuel trims to start settling down. I'm hoping that it gets quicker as I get them closer.
