SO i have been debating what to fo to my car for mods since i've have some extra cash lately. Im thinking headers and cam to start with. SO my question is if (when) i go topswap will i be able to use the same cam thats in therem or will i have to change? No i am not gunna go turbo, so dont suggest it. haha I dont want to do all this modding at the same time because some of my cash will go towards a tranny fund, and other non car related funds.

well setting some aside for a tranny fund is probly the best mod on your list, after the top swap..

there are not gonna be too many things that will give you big performance boost now and later, esp if you are planning on a cam.. i would say headers would be one, they will drop you low end just a little but will give you a little more on top end and will be a great asset when boosted. if you where not going cam i would say rockers, but the cam wil negate them. so not too much else really, but you could get a few things to feed the mod bug like hv3, that would help a bit and would be easy to sell when your ready.

depens on what cam, but most work BETTER one way or the other. and that is not to say that it wont work, it just wont work as optimal as another. they are genereal designed to work as either n/a or s/c but some have worked well either way. if you are for sure about top swapping, and it will not bee too far in the future i would almost see how well a s/c cam will work on n/a, then when you go s/c you will be screaming. but remember too that if you do a cam now to get the most out of it esp if running a cam not common for your setup that a good tune will do wonders, but it will have to be done again when you swap.

there may be other items that will cross over too, and i am sure someone will chime in with them later.

the stock cam for the n/a and boosted engines is the same. the n/a just has 2* of cam advance built into the timing set (why the cam gears look diffrent)

i have seen some top swaps with the zzp GT series cams they work all right but the boosted cams lik XP and VS are designed to help bleed off cylander pressure

This should be moved to the L36/26 section.
