HP Tuner requires a laptop to use it and a special cable to tune your car.

On these cars, the only thing available that really works is the ones for laptops, i.e. HPT.
Sorry Don

I know. I saw it. I'm just breaking your balls about the other thread. I'm with you though about handheld flash tunes. It's pretty much the only thing offered for us VW guys anyhow ;-)

DHP PowrTuner is the other laptop tuner that was specific to V6 3800's. No longer sold new, but can still be found used. Much cheaper choice than HP Tuner, but still just as powerful.

Very true. I believe Derek (Dthreap) is selling it. Might want to get in touch with him if you're interested.

It works great on 04's. On 05's you have to do a full write to the PCM everytime instead of the safer partial write, but still works just fine. I don't think it will work on 06+ unless the PCM was swapped with an older model.

I have PLX Kiwi wifi for my iTouch. That device will only scan though, it will not write, so can't be used with a tuner, then again I wouldn't trust a wifi connection for tuning anyhow.

I use Rev by Devtoaster, Fuzzycar, and Dashcommand. Oh how I love having a jailbroken iDevice
Dashcommand is my favorite so far though.

Sure did :D

And DHP decided to fry anthonys PCM. Works fine on mine but after plugging in the HPT I won't look back. DHP I had to pull the radio fuse, HTP puts the car into the service mode when reading the pcm for the .bin file so only the things that are needed work.

I love playing with HPT. I'd like to buy it someday... until then I'm going to mooch off everyone else.

Yea HPT is a work of art. I got the beta version to play with, might see if I can't tune the Liberty a bit.

Haha, nice. Curious question. With HPT, once a PCM is registered on one computer does that mean that it's unlocked if I use someone else's HPT program? Not sure how all that works or if there is a database on the interwebz that keeps track of all the registered PCM vins or what.

WHy di you have to pull the radio fuse? I never had to do that. Been having my PowrTuner 5-6 years and never had a single issue with it.

When you register a PCM vin the OSID and vin are registered to your box. Therefore only your box has access to the PCM.

No idea, if I left it in the car would go crazy and sometimes wouldn't read the pcm. Now if I'm driving and doing a scan I had no problems with the radio fuse in. But if I tried to read the pcm or flash it the radio fuse better be out or all hell was breaking loose. DIC would flash, headlights would go on and off, car would reboot it self multiple times. It wasn't pretty lol.
