The regular GTP transmissions had 2.93 gearing, but the Comp G has 3.29's (like the N/A GT's). So, yeah it could technically bolt up since they are all 4T65E's, but the gearing will be different thus your PCM won't like it and the shift tables will be all messed up. However, the transmissions in the GT's that did have the correct gearing did not have heavy duty differenentials, so that really won't work either. Also, the internals of the trans like the valve bodies and some other things are different too but that's Tap Shift related.

So, in short... NO, sorry.

From another thread on here...
"Changes to the 4T65E transmission with Tap Shift: Thanks GM Guy

The internal changes to the 4T65E transmission are in the valve body, spacer plate and the channel plate. These parts are unique to the TAP Shift equipped 4T65E transmission. A non-TAP transmission has a different valve body, spacer plate and channel plate and these parts can not be mixed.

The new TAP spacer plate has three notches in the lower right corner. The new non-TAP spacer plate has no notches in the lower right corner.

The new TAP-equipped vehicle also has different fourth clutch plates, with fiber on one side and steel on the other. A non-TAP vehicle will have normal fiber and steel plates for the fourth clutch.
The 2/1 manual band is made from a different material for TAP-Shift(TM) applications. This material will handle more stress than the normal 2/1 band in the other models.

The transaxle filter has also changed to improve oil pickup. The new filter will back service any past model 4T65E and its use is required on all

Notes on what cars could have Tap Shift:

Tap Shift was only available on Comp G’s is 2004. In 2005 Tap Shift was available on Comp G’s, then at the end of 2005 on GTP’s with the Sport Package (these cars were built after the Comp G option was ended when the production of the GXP started) and all GXP’s 2005 to present have Tap Shift and were the only cars from 2006 to present to have Tap Shift."

I'll make this short and sweet for you since I've looked into this fully already because Derek and I were looking at it...

You can't, there is no way to do it, the pcm has modules built in for tap shift and such that are not in a regular GTP transmission, you just can't do it, they're not interchangeable.

Out of curiousity though... what if you had a GTP trans with a GTP PCM? Yeah, you'd lose Tap shift, but at least the PCM would be to the correct trans.

You would think that would work, Not sure. You would have to do a diff swap as well

I've run a gt trans in my comp G. You have to change over the valvebody, channel plate, internal range selector, and your HD diff.
