I did a quick glance over of the first page.

what kind of tranny fluid should I use. all I'm doing is adding some. I'm a little low. I check twice.

what made me check was a nice popping and slight grind putting it in to reverse while pressing the brake. and some times it take a few more RPM to shift.

time add some. any help be great thanks.

First of all, if you are low, it is leaking out somewhere. The first plade I would check it the output seals and the differential case. And it doesn't really matter what you add as long as it is Dexron III or higher.

there is no leakes. everything underneath is completely dry. does running 20's have anything to do with it.

You may want to add some for now but you should surly do a drop and fill w/filter change, if the fluid is low and you are not leaking any, the fluid is burning inside from over use or weak fluid.

have it changed if the color is not red ... dexron 6

Well, possibly you are burning it up, but like all oil, it really doesn't evaporate very well. I would drop the pan and replace the filter, and fill it back up with dexron VI and 20oz Lucas.

Yes.........running a heavier rim and stickier tire puts more stress on your drivetrain, especially if you have a lead foot off the line

Now i may be wrong, and if I am someone please correct me.
But the horror stories you are referring to are when people do a trans FLUSH. not just changing the filter and fluid.

thats correct. DO NOT get the trans power flushed. just drop the pan and change the filter and replace the fluid.

if youre really concerned, change the fluid a few times.

It all depends. If the tranny and fluid are still in decent shape, a full flush is just fine. If the fluid is browned at all, or there are a lot of deposits in the pan, then a flush may finish off the tranny. But if the tranny takes a dump because of a flush, its days were numbered.

Agreed. On a maintained trans, it's not a REAL issue. I lost a trans due to one, and my uncle did, too.
