Nice. I hope all goes well with it.

Are you running an aftermarket converter as well?

What stall speed did Dave recommend for your setup?

Sounds good. I have heard a lot of good things about Dave's trannys and it does the job in your car. I am a diehard ZZP guy, but think I am gonna have Dave build me one next year and have it put in local. If you wouldn't mind can you PM me a ball park on what you have in to yours part and money wise?

3000?!? he recommened me 3500, but that was considering that I'd be pushing 15 psi.
3250 is what ZZP told me...

I was told by ZZP to run a 2750... I guess they just tell you whatever... I've read all over the place that the stock converter is great and that upgrading isn't hugely necessary. I guess it's all trial and error for each individual, depending on what they want to achieve, or track the car specifically.

I know all of you guys have seen this... it's just a good ref.

Our high performance torque converters are built in a 245mm case, which makes them eight pounds lighter than the stock L67 converter. This helps to free up some HP that the stock converter is robbing as well as increase the life of transmission. In fact the exact same transmission will survive to nearly ½ sec quicker with no other changes than a converter swap!

There are seven stall speeds available. You should choose the converter that best suits your needs. Note that stall speeds are approximations and will vary depending on torque output of your motor as well as gear ratios, vehicle weight, and other factors. Lower stall speeds run cooler, get better fuel economy, and are easier to launch with. Higher stalls give lower 60’ potential but rob more upper rpm HP.

The 2500 is a small step higher than a stock GTP converter. It's excellent for street use and occasional track runs. We recommend it for most M90 applications where traction is limited to 1.7x 60's. It is the most efficient converter we offer and produces the highest top end HP.

The 2750 is a step up from the 2500 and great for guys running slicks at the track, 1.6x 60's with an M90, or users who want a noticeably higher stall than stock.
The 3000 is an excellent choice for turbo setups using a small turbo with manifolds. It is also recommend for positive displacement blowers such as the M90 or M112 when shooting for low 1.6x 60’s with slicks.

The 3250 provides faster spooling for small turbo cars. With wheelie bars, you’ll have the power to run 1.5x 60 foot times. It is also the smallest converter that we recommend for NA guys and will be a small improvement over the stock L36 converter.

The 3500 is great for getting into boost quicker with a turbo or centrifugal supercharger. You really begin to notice increased stall speed with this unit. We recommend it for T67 or T70 turbos. It’s a good choice GTs that want a noticeable increase in launching power and ¼ mile times but still want to retain streetability.

The 3750 is ideal for drag racing with a turbocharger or centrifugal supercharger. Power comes in fast and impressive sixty-foot times can result. Our CSC powered GTP laid down a 1.57 sixty-foot time with this converter! For naturally aspirated guys that don’t mind the feel of a slippery converter, it will give you 1.8 sec 60’ potential with awesome gains in the ¼ mile. Our aluminum transmission pan is highly recommended for use in boosted applications.

The 4000 is ideal for drag racing naturally aspirated. It can also be used to spool a T76 or larger turbo. Our GT uses this converter and holds the NA 60' record with a 1.71! Our aluminum transmission pan is recommended for all applications.

Just a bit of info I was running a ATI 3k stall in my POS GP and ripped the splines off the converter and ATI wouldn't stand behind it they wanted $250+shipping to repair it I contacted Dave and he said a stock one was fine until I was in the 11's. The car felt stronger after going back to a stock one

a stock GT converter is a 245mm case and is rated by GM to have a 3000 stall. that is behind a N/A 3800 though. i recently put my old stock GT converter in my car and it was 1000x better then the 2500 i got from zzp. and my lock up works agian
