More recently since its gotten colder out, my transmission jerks right before I come to a complete stop. When it happens, it usually happens 97% of the time when the transmission is cold. After driving around for a while it rarely happens unless a come to a stop really fast. It also rarely happens when I have it in 3rd instead of drive. Of course once I get above 40mph I put it in drive haha. This issue was occuring last winter and spring but not as frequent. Over the summer I had no issue. I had the transmission fluid and filter changed a few months ago with dex6 at a gm dealership, no different. The 140k transmission shifts beautiful otherwise. I know these 4t65e aren't so good though from my experience with my impala. Im thinking maybe torque converter? TCC solenoid? What am looking at for cost of repair? I haven't heard of a lot of people with this particular issue.

I'm afraid you guys are going to say rebuild although I already decided if I spend more $600 on a tranny repair, it would be a wise choice to rebuild considering the track record of these transmissions. Thanks in advance for the input!

I don't know much about transmissions, but I do know you're doing well with that many miles on it. If you plan to keep the car rebuild it, if not then just get it fixed. The trans was going out in my GP at 85K so I traded it for a much stronger trans and more power.

jerking means it is not down shifting from second. eather the shift soliniod is sticking or there is dirt is the passeges casing the fluid to not move as freely.

i would try a filter and fluid change first DO NOT get a flush just a pan drop.see of that clears it up if not then it will need a rebuild

Tom he said he just did a fluid & filter change a few months ago. I agree though that it might be a shift solenoid.

Which Tranny would you suggest if any?

Trannyman Dave does triple edge performance and charges a lot more. Had a tranny done by Tim king and customer service is excellent along with reasonable prices.

I stand corrected! Cant beat him.for the price honestly if you plan on keeping the car I would have him rebuild u one. If you aren't then around your local junkyards or moradpartscompany and get a use tranny and drive it till you get rid of it but that would only be bandaid'ing it

I plan on keeping this car until it turns into dust haha so I will eventually rebuild. I got a few estimates to rebuild the transmission in my Impala a year ago before I decided not to stick the money in it. Same transmission as you all know, one place gave me an estimate for $1700 - 1 year 12,000 mile warranty and the other place gave an estimate for $2400 - 5 year 100,000 mile warranty. So my question is who would go with if assuming that both places would be do a full rebuild? Is it safe to assume that the $2400 estimate includes better parts or do you think the higher price is all in the longer the warranty? Both places are pretty reputable. Personally I think I would lean more toward the $2400 rebuild considering the much longer warranty. Oh and I also got an estimate at a place the wanted to put in a re manufactured transmission for $2600 -3 years 75,000 warranty. Thanks for the input so far.

They use better parts that last longer so they can stand behind it longer. A remanufactured trans is just a rebuild so the $2400 deal would be best since it has a longer warranty.

If you want to keep your GP forever don't drive a G8 otherwise you'll want one tooooooooo badly. ;-)
