Is it possible on a stock 04 comp g? Anyone in the southern wisconsin want to rip apart my trans and check to see whats going on? Maybe its just me, but it feels like the trannys is slipping. Coming from 4th gear, all the way down to 1st with a rolling stop, once I start back up again it takes a little bit, then the trans grabs, gives a little jerk, and then starts accelerating. Or is that just the shitty drive by wire system?

you probably already thought of this but have you tried to start by getting a filter/fluid change?

Flush the transmission fluid, mine was doing the same, I did that and it runs a lot smoother (not perfect) but a very noticeable difference.

x2...drop the pan, change the filter, and fill it up with Dexron VI

Anyone have a write up on dropping the tranny pan and changing the filter? I've always tried to stay away from working on the tranny.

1. Jack up the front of the car and place jack stands under it.
2. Put a big oil catch pan under the trans.
3. Loosen and remove the bolts on one side/back/corner of the trans depending on where you jacked it up so that the pan will drain.
4. Slightly loosen the bolts the rest of the way around until the fluid starts to seep out.
5. Use a plastic/rubber small pry bar and gently pry the side of the pan that you took the bolts out of until it starts draining.
6. Let it drain and then remove the rest of the bolts while holding the pan up or using a small jack to hold it up so you make less mess as there will still be fluid in the pan.
7. Remove the filter by gently prying the filter off where it hooks into the trans and check to see if the filter seal stays in or comes out with the filter as you will have to put a new one in if it comes out.
8. Clean the pan, gasket, and magnet and be SURE to put the magnet back in the pan.
9. Put the pan back on and torque the bolts to 10 lb/ft
10. Add ~7.5 quarts of Dex VI

don't do it

not unless you have been following the gm service plan since mile 1
the detergents in the new fluid will dissolve w/e is holding your trans parts together recurring a rebuild a week later

I know a little about transmissions, and it won't hurt to change your fluid and filter. You just remove all the tranny pan bolts and try to get as much fluid as possible in the drain pan. Remove the filter gently with a prybar. Don't worry about replacing the filter seal, just jamb the new filter up there and tap it into place with a rubber mallet. I would recommend dumping one quart of Lucas into the tranny pan before reassembly. That stuff works wonders on transmissions, and it doesn't go down fill tubes very well. Put pan back on and fill up with fluid. Clear mode 4 data. If no scan tool is available just disconnect the battery for a few minutes. job is done.
