Flushing the tranny with that many miles might cause it to go bad. If you want my honest opinion I'd ride it until it blows and replace it, they're not too expensive. Or if you want you could always try to flush it and if it blows than replace it but with that many miles it's a coin toss.

I'd say your tranny isn't going bad. The high temps could be from hot summer weather? Many options.

Are you turning the wheel at all when you hear this popping noise? I get that too, something from my suspension/steering is making contact somewhere.

I HIGHLY advise listening to what Dboy said.

Don't change the fluid.

My GT2 has a VIOLENT clunk every time it changes gears. I was noticing problems with it so my dad got the fluid changed and then it caused it to get even worse. Mine has got 217,000 clicks on it and the tranny is gonna die real soon, the temperature is constantly at 104 degrees C - and i'm in Canada.

Pop when it shifts? Change your trans mount haha

If it hasn't been done I would drop the pan, change the filter and put in Dextron 6.

I still don;t think the issue is trans related

Popping noise going from park to drive (or reverse) is more than likely your downpipe hitting your sway bar. Happens all the time when the mounts go bad.

As for hard 1-2 shift, that's a solenoid and in no way is changing your fluid going to help whatsoever

If you kept up with the trans flushs every 50-75K then do flush. If not I would still do the flush - There is a chance this may cause a issue but this is not due to the flush but because a component was in the process of failing before the flush.

Those temps are a little high and that may be due to the fluid has degraded. Now this can cause hard shifts - if the fluid is degraded the pump will work harder to push the fluid due to all the deposits and lack of lubrication due to the degrading process. Also if the filter is plugged up the pump is attempting to work harder to push the fluid to obtain the proper pressures.

The pop noise, like Ninny GTP said - that could very well be the down pipe being hit when you shift, - happens often.

Just curious, what are your coolant temps?

I would look at TEP website. If you dont find anything send him an email. I sent in a question and Dave seemed to hit the nail on the head. Any codes stored? If it was mine I would check the mount as suggested and pull the pan and see if there is any debris in the pan. Do you get a harsh shift from 1st to 2nd only? The EPC Pressure Control Sol may cause harsh shift. Does it jerk hard when putting it in gear? When I had problems with mine it was gradual and would come and go. The high temp may be the converter. I would check with Dave though.
