so i had a problem with my tranny last thursday, it pretty much shit the bed on me, i have an 04 gtp comp g with 43k on it, i got in my car threw it in drive and nothing, it was fine when i parked it. on friday i brought it to my buddy who owns a garage, he said it was junk and he could replace it for about $1800. I called another buddy of mine at the local gm dealership and he gave me a number to gm. so i called them, they had me bring the car to a dealer about 20 miles away, when i got there i waited for about an hour and a half to have gm tell me to take it to the dealer about 5 miles from my house. that was last friday. i got a call from gm on monday around 11am they told me the dealer was gonna take a look at it within the hour, i finally got a call around 430 from the dealer and they told me they were just pulling it in to have the tranny diagnosed, so i took a ride up to see what the heck was going on. when i got there they said that there was some metal in the pan nothing large, but they were stilll waiting to hear from gm to see if they were willing to do anything they only work till 530 pm so their day was over. so now im waiting till monday to see what is gonna happen. so i get a call around 11 am on monday from gm, they tell me once the problem is diagnosed they will get back to me around the same time tuesday 11 am, so after hearing nothing i call my buddy at the local dealership and ask if they have heard anything, he tells me no, so now im going on tuesday, my car is taking up a lift at the dealership and im waiting for gm to tell me if they are willing to do anything to help me out, dont get me wrong if they replace the tranny it was well worth the wait for a 2-3 grand bill. when i stopped at the dealership they said it was throwing 4 tranny codes, i asked why that wouldent throw a dummy light, they said that they all wont throw a light, i didnt think to get the codes. but i can if you guys can shed some light on them. so now im going on wednesday, they have had my car for almost a week and i have heard nothing, this same dealership just replaced my cat about two weeks ago and cleared the cpu, i checked my fluid last sat before i took a small road trip all highway miles, and the tranny fluid was red, on thursday it lookes like motor oil.

the car is a 04, way out've warranty, I doubt GM will do much to help you. I would've taken the car to a good tranny shop and have them rebuild it.

Hmm, I would get the codes, I got a feeling that GM is going to tell you a rebuild and if thats the case PULL IT! For the money you will spend $1700 to $2100 you can get a much better built trans or even get your trans repaired at TEP for less.

Question will the car go in any gear? Could be the shifter cable broken - this does happen

i got codes p0730, p041,po42,p1750 i got the tranny re built at the dealership, i got gm to split it with me 75(gm)/25(me) percent ended up costing me 650 bucks, but im still wondering if one of those codes could and or should have kicked on a light.
