Hey, just thought i'd share a bit of frustration..

Started off with the blower motor catching fire in the car! Thankfully didn't burn anything by the blower motor and resistor.. that was $300 to replace, soon after that the tranny starts to not want to shift in the mornings and has a hard time shifting while driving. Called up the Transmission shop, they quoted me a stupid $4000 to overhaul. Called up the Pontiac dealer ( oddly they still call themselves Pontiac Dealership) and brought it is for a check. Turns out the input clutch piston was shot and all my seals were leaking. Overhaul price of $900 parts, $1800 labor.

They guys at the dealership were able to find me a used tranny off of a rear end wreck for $1300. Had them inspect it and drop it in. $2100 later the GTP has never been this smooth at shifting.

I'm guessing the previous owner didn't flush the tranny at all as the fluid that the guys drained from my old tranny was as black as used motor oil.

I'm hoping thats the last of the wallet hits..

i had a 98 blazer that I bought with 163k back then that from the day I bought it it kinda shifted hard into second so I decided to add some of that lucas stuff but syphioned out enough first before i added the lucas stuff and I hear you on the black as motor oil. but after I added that lucas stuff I noticed it working within 2-3 days. and it shifted perfect. then the intake gasket started to go and i drive 700 miles 2 days a week so I sold it a month and a half later

I tried the lucas fix, it didn't work at all in fact made it worse as it made the fluid more sticky.

Talk to trannyman about a replacement tranny. I wouldn't even bother getting all of that stuff fixed when he can do it for the same price and it will be in much better shape after he is finished.
