As some of you may know, my tranny has been acting funny for a while...IE..When taking a sharp left/ right turn, over about 180 degrees, the tranny will "go in neutral" for a few seconds...then reengage...

Now for what happend last night..

I changed my oil around 730, got supper, took a shower and was gettin ready to head back to college....180 miles
So I back the car out of the garage at about 830 and inspect the floor just to make sure my oil filter and plug were on tight...and I notice a 4-5" around puddle of tranny fluid...checked the stick and it was under the add shade.

So I add some dexron 4...also compatable with 3 from walmart...

I made it to college at about 10 last night..I chekd under my car today at about 1pm...no puddle....????

My friend had the same problem in his 04 WRX, not that its the same car but... It happend after he changed the fluid. Supposuvly he did some damage while doing it. I forget what happend but he bent the pan and had to get it replaced. Maybe that could be your problem? I have not a clue. Possibly you could check that out.
Hope that helps a little?

Pan Gasket's leaking Gabe. How long has it been sense you've changed the trans fluid?? I'd change it again and go to Dex 6 from zzp or gm

was the tranny fluid warm when you checked the level? because you're supposed to check it after driving so its warmed up

Ok I was having a problem very similar to this at the end of last summer. Whenever I would take a sharper turn, right when I pressed back on the gas the car would shift weird or the trans would vibrate funny. It kind of felt like the transmission mount was bad. It would only happen on turns. My trans fluid level was fine and I had dex 6 in there with a good filter ect ect. Someone on another forum kept telling me that my trans fluid was low and i kept telling him it was level and fine. I ended up just saying to the hell with it and i dumped about a 1/4 qt of trans fluid in there. Problem dissapeared the next day. My fluid reads a little high now but thats not supposed to be a big deal. I guess my trans just wants more fluid now or soemthing? Maybe yours is the same way?

Also, when you change you fluid you should reset your pcm by unplugging your battery for awhile. The pcm is used to the old fluid and when you put new fluid in it still thinks the old fluid is in. It called "adaptive learning." At least this is the cae with the newer gp's, not sure about your model year. NJ Brain explained it in a post a while back.

Sounds like midwestspecial is on to you answer. I would drop the pan and change the fluid and filter. Be sure to check for metal when you pull the pan. I would also change to the newest Dextron.

i would clean the underside of the car first and see where the leak is before you continue to drive it.

Glad you figured it out. Definitaly drop the pan and change the fluid and filter, but I don't recommend using Dexron VI with old trannys. The additives very often eat the old seals and you will end up with leaks. What I recommend for older trannys is just Dexron III with one bottle of Lucas. Adaptive learn just "learns" the car, and adjusts shift firmness, fuel trims, etc. On 1997 and newer GP's it is a good idea to reset that data after a flush or even a filter change. But if you don't, it will learn itself within a few drive cycles.
