Cool couple questions.. Did you use the g6 outter axle stubs? If so are you planning on keeping abs?

Yes I did. But on newer cars like mine the abs reluctor is built right in to the hub assembly. You can't see any part of it by looking at the hub, except for the connector.

You know the f40 comes in an AWD version... Sombody needs to get that one and swap it in.

ok i thought of that after i had a dream about it, pontiac had a car kinda looked like my friends ninty eight, called the 9000 and it came in AWD thinking about it i dont think it would be too hard, just turning the engine around would blow but putting a rear end in a GP is not hard if you can FAB a drive shaft would go where the exhaust is, just the firewall may well will be in the way o well with enough money anything is possible ive seen awd crx's and del sols so why not a gtp?

The A4 with a 1.8T and an automatic is lethargic. I have driven one, and it was a terrible ride.

Today is a sad day for me. My flywheel came, and I realized why nobody else had changed the bolt pattern on one of these before. Because of the dual step design, it would cost more than it is worth. It looks like I am stuck with $750 setup from v8archie. So that combined with going to school this fall, it looks like this project will be on halt till next summer. I am really bummed out. I really miss not having a good car to drive, and relying on my bike or friends car.

Sorry to hear that Noah. You'll get it done and when you do it will be just that much sweeter for you. You have your priorities straight and that is what is important.

Right now it is very tempting for me to scrap school, and just finish my car, but I know that will set me way back in the long run. If I can get financial aid of some sort for school, I will be back on the car in a few weeks. I'll keep you posted.

just replace the pressure control solenoid in it and then flush and service it, should be good to go unless you been flogging it

The six-speed also bolts right up, to the engine that is. That is the only place that the five-speed will bolt up to as well, the engine block. It is not a cheap or easy swap, and don't attempt it if you think it will be.

I actually only paid $375 shipped for my tranny.

I also got financial aid from FAFSA, so the progress will resume. As soon as my deposit clears I will order the flywheel from Carquest, and a custom clutch from SPEC. There is always light at the end of the tunnel. Some of my brightest days have been right after the darkest night.

Noah.

Here is another update. I sent off my clutch order last night, and will be getting a stage 2+ clutch. Here are up to date pictures.

Here are my Tranny mounts.

My shift cables.

My transmission range switch replacement.

I needed something to replace my shift interlock so I could take my key out, and this is what I decided on.

My center console back together.

You can tell by the cup holders that this car was never meant to have a manual.

Well that is all for now. I'll keep you updated

That is my plan. From what I understand, the G6 guys have the same complaint about their manuals.

Thats shift knob will look sick when you have it all back together. Are you getting a custom shift boot?

I believe you actually will. The F40 is only .5" longer than the 282. I can't verify this, however.

Keep in mind that this car was never meant to have a Manual, and everything will have to be customized, the mounts, shifter, bearings, axles, oil filter adapter, and who knows what else.
