i'm nervous now.. ever since i did plugs & mps, i've had wheelhop going into 2nd.. but it doesn't always feel like wheel hop.. it kinda feels like my trans is about to bite the dust. it's like it stars to shake & shudder going into 2nd gear, especially if i use tap shift and hold 1st a little longer. car only has 70k & some change.. but if it tranny is already going out.. then kcuf, the car isn't even paid off yet! any other hints as to my tranny biting the dust? 04 gtp comp-g for those of you that don't know.

Sounds like maybe the engine is misfiring under load; I would check the plugs and wires first. If you find a loose wire, check the inside of the boot for burn marks (carbon tracking) and the spark plug as well. Good Luck!

If you don't see anything obvious, take to a proffessional shop and have it diagnosed. There are way to many options as to what it might be.

man.. all projects for the car are officially ON HOLD. going to run it at the track on friday (probably a bad idea IF the tranny is going out) and then she goes into storage, and i'm gonna save up some funds for a tranny (if i will need one in the future.) and then some other things, since the motor will be pulled, might as well make the best of it, eh? :D

i still hope it's not going out. oh well, i'll beat the piss out of her friday, and see how she takes it. i know some people would be like "don't do it!!!" but hey, it'll happen eventually, might as well get it over with.

My 4T65E-HD seems to be holding up fine to over 116,000 and modding...

Same here, I'm about to hit 98,000 miles with no issues. But, I don't hammer on my trans either.

probably tq manament then..

if your tq managment pulls fuel instead of timing it would cause that studdering/shaking (and chipping of pistons)

if its set up to pull timing then youre good.

you still have some, if you dont then maybe your tranny is going, lol. you definately need tq msanagment, just as long as it pulls timing and doesnt shut off injectors like it does stock.

If I understand her description like I think I do, the PCS won't cause that. The PCS in mine IS bad, and I don't have the troubles like she is describing.

Miranda, drop the trans oil pan, and see what is in there. If it's all fluid, great. If there is clutch lining and metal in there, well...you can figure it out.

for wheel hop could be a warped rotor

warped roter?? how in baby jesus's name do i replace that??? not to sound dumb.. but i have no idea.

and dropping the trans pan sounds like a task within itself..

i'm half tempted to just let it go until further issues.

Yeah...ten minute job. The trans pan is dead easy...just can be messy.

Well, a warped rotor would cause the brake pedal to vibrate when braking... So if you've got smooth braking.... It's not a rotor issue... The TC problem sounds about right. a bad TC will cause studdering like you describe.

Have someone you know take the pan off and check for fluid color, filter and trans parts. Change the filter and tranny fluid while inspecting the pan. See if it runs better afterwards.... Do not wait until the tranny BLOWS UP.
