Yeah, talk to Noah. He'll be able to help you guys out a lot on this issue. I'd be interested in seeing if the 04+ are any easier since Noah's project seemed pretty crazy.

Iz heart my little 5 speed, but the people who ride my ass pulling away from a stop light don't seem to share the same feeling when I shift.

IIRC there was a 5-speed option earlier in the generation from which almost everything bolts up. I am planning on going this route later on as well, as A- I hate automatics, and B- my transmission is starting to go wonky (just hit 155,000 and I changed what looked like original fluid at 152,000 [well, it changed it for me when an incident ripped the halfshaft out =P ])

dont know how easy it would be to find the parts to do it but they did put a very few standards in that gen car. i belive them to be as rare or even more so than the turbo gp of that gen

There's a few Lumina Z34's driving around here with the 3.4 and a 5spd from the factory. IIRC its the same transmission that was used in the GPs.

Yes, it will. The manual transmission W-Body was no longer made after 1994, but the rest of the car was the same (at least for a GP and Cutlass) until 1996 or 1997 for the Cutlass. The Cutlass dropped the manual transmission after 1992, IIRC, and the Lumina 1994, as well as the GP.

Had a ball joint fail during a sharp turn, force on the strut ripped the halfshaft out of the tranny and dislocated the CV joint.

What he said. I'm on the hunt for one as well.

The manual in the early W-Bodies was a Getrag 5 speed. I hope that helps somehow...

I'm pretty sure it will fit, it just wasn't a factory option.

As far as I know, everything bolts up and your only issue is dealing with transmission codes and getting rid of them.

They were only available until '93, but the platform itself stayed the same.

...Or so I was told.

I 5-speed swapped my 95 grand prix earlier this year. No codes, no problems.
