I can spin my wheels freely with the front end jacked up but on the ground it doesn't roll. Does it roll on the ground?

i think i found out the problem. they didnt give me a hd axel. they sent me the wrong one. a hd axel will not fit in a non hd trans right? and a non hd axel wont fit in a hd trans?

the HD one is shorter. a nonHD one would be way to long you would not even beable to get it into the wheel hub and trans

i think i have the non hd axel it just wont go in the trans. and when i looked in the diff i see a small marks like i hit it with the axle and it shud never thouch it. thats why the car moved while it was in park.

I'm all sorts of confused now. I thought there was no physical way for it even to be possible to have a longer axle installed in an HD diff and still be able to bolt the knuckle/hub up correctly.
Even so this still doesn't make any sense. If you're axle was wrong and thus not allowing power to be sent to both front wheels (or able to lock up the wheels when in park), then you're car would also not be able to move forward or backwards at all do the the diff sending power to just one side. I'm going with Tom's first suggestion on this one with the gear selector alignment.

When you jack the car up, are both front tires unloaded? If so, is one tire spinning in the opposite direction as the one you're turning?

really it was never fully in the diff. its to long but it still went threw the hub it just wasnt never in the diif all the way, thats why when i bolted everything up and set it on the ground it just rolled. i never drove it or gave it power

if that's the case then the trans is not in correctly becuase there are only 2 diffrent axles and there is no way to mix them up or even come close to it

i tryed to use a none HD axle in a HD diff. and this si not sounding like that at all. the non-HD axle is 2" longer then the HD axle
