Compettion trannys . There suppose to be a little bit tougher then the regular gtps correct? So how much lower in the ets can one expect to go without breaking tranny parts ? Mid 12s? What I'm getting at is I'm planning on going turbo this summer, I should be capable of mid to high 11s. I know if I try to push or run those times on a stock tranny from a 04 comp that she won't take it. But if I tune it down to say mid 12s will my stock tranny handle that?

someone correct me if i'm wrong.. but a comp-g tranny just has a different gear ratio.. nothing is beefed up really.. and it has tap shift.

Yeah, just the gearing is different. The LS4 powered cars get a beefed up version of this trans, though.

The new TAP-equipped vehicle also has different fourth clutch plates, with fiber on one side and steel on the other. A non-TAP vehicle will have normal fiber and steel plates for the fourth clutch.
The 2/1 manual band is made from a different material for TAP-Shift(TM) applications. This material will handle more stress than the normal 2/1 band in the other models.

Those things won't get you any more durability in racing. They are there for the added stress of "manually" shifting the transmission.

Yes they will if there installed they will take more abuse and let you beat the piss out of the trans more then a regular gtp trans.

Right...because you downshift 2-1 during a drag race, and use 4th in the 1320' as well.
