Last time I heard this happened, it will eventually not move at all. Think your forward apply bands are just about gone. You need to drop the tranny pan and you can see through a small hole if they look like they should.

Unfortunatly, it means the transmission will have to be taken out and rebuilt. If your tapshift is still working though, you might be ok if you don't mind driving it like that.

Heres more info:

So it is a rebuild and not a new transmission. I just need to know where i am taking it on Monday.

I want to know which is best. I am not trying to put out a whole lot of money if i don't have too. If a rebuild is just as good as a new one i will do that.

Guarantee you that it will not stay that way. I keep reading the occasional thread that talks about TapShift eating up the bands in these transmissions and I haven't touched mine in a while because of it.

I dont really use mine unless i am trying to keep it in 4th in the City

I guess the dealer will fix it. New Tranny from Lansing. It was a cheaper fix $3,300 and it has a 3yr 100,000 mile warranty. Rebuild was $2,700 and a 1yr/36,000 mile warranty. Should be done by Friday. I know the dealership but this dealership is great they allowed me to use used part from Morad for fixing, did my reprogram for my Navigation, has done free work for me in the past and never had any issues which had me return the car for a refix. Plus the only place in town that does great work on Corvettes.

You could have gotten that rebuild done for considerably cheaper.

and x2 any thing over 1500 for a rebuild is over priced and i work at a dealer we charge over $75/hr for labor

I priced rebuilds for around here was $2,500-$2,700 and they only came with 1yr/36,000mi warranty. That is about the price where I live. For $600 more I got a new Tranny with 3yr/100,000mi It may be a bit but with work, kids one car between my wife and I, it was not going to work. I was able to borrow a car for two days. Also, the rebuild on the tranny was going to take longer, time i did not have. Eh! doesn't bother me I was back and running in less than a week.

I tell you i had to take almost a day of work just because we had to use one car. Boils down to it, i saved more money over all than waiting to get a rebuild done.
Plus the dealer I go to does everything right the first time. Although, the regular guy who takes my car at the dealer was not there when i dropped it off. I saw him when i was picking up my car and told me next time put his name on the envelop for the drop box. He could have saved me about $300-$500. Note to self never drop off car over night without putting the representative I want.
