Does anyone know if the tranys on the 04 plus cars (mine is a CompG) have to be to a certain temp before they shift "Normal" ???

Long story short, if the trany temp is below 80*-85* the car falls on it face shifting from one gear to another. Above 85* the car shifts fine ...

Fluid checks good car has 57K on it ...

Any ideas?

i'd assume when the car goes into open loop
when that is you'd have to wait and watch it

mines the same way man. it shifts slow untill it gets over 100* or so. I never beat on my car when the trans is cold, it would probably be like "kcuf it, im done."

anyway, i used to have a 2005 Trailblazer. When the trans was cold it the first few shift would always lag terribly. People on the forums told me it was supposed to happen and the trans was just protecting itself because the fluid wasn't warm enough.

Well ... at least I'm not alone on this one. I guess the question is, is this normal?

BTW, when you say "shifts slow", does yours give you the felling you're riding in a standard shift car. Meaning, the RPMs run to the shift point, you push the clutch in ...... wait ..... then shift into the next gear. It gives you the sensation you're going thru the windsheild?

Yea almost exactly like that. When my car hits like 20mph it shifts into a gear. but sometimes when it won't shift and will wait till 23-24mph. while the car is accelerating from 20mph to 23mph during this phase i get a weird sensation like i am shifting a manual. it only happens sometimes and im going to start investigating it more.

i could be wrong but i think it only does this when the trans is under the 110* range or something like that.

also, when i hit around 45mph, sometime my car will lurch forward slightly. like right when the car shifts it lurches forward slightly. doesnt happen all the time.

i rarely abuse my car and ive changed the fluid and filter twice with dex6. it has 43k on it.

Yes it is normal. Warm your car up for a few minutes before driving, and take it easy until the tranny warms up.
