so today i got on the highway nad a trans line went. i dont about 2 miles beofroe i realized. and by realized i mean i have 0% gears. will a tranny fliud.filter be worth a shot

change the line and fill it up.. Thats the only way you will know for sure

I say fill it with fluid, run it for a while, then pull the pan and see if there are any metal filings on the magnet.

Do you mean you still have no gears after it was refilled or just non while sitting. If it is low it will not move, you have to fill it before it will even try. And if it is that empty then a filter is cheap and couldn't hurt. And if the fluid is really dark and burnt nothing says you have to put it back together.

So yes fluid and filter if you have done nothing with it. But if you have refilled it and still nada then it may be trans time.

Without enough trans fluid, the torque converter won't even send power to the transmission, let alone have enough fluid to work the clutch packs and all the other craziness inside of a transmission. So yeah, if you didn't refill the trans after the hose blew off, you won't have any gears and won't have any power from the engine even going to the input shaft.

Replace line, fill with fluid, assess situation.

If line has not been fixed might as well do the filter and such. Why fill it twice? If is junk only out like 12 bucks. If it works your that much farther ahead.

i fail i dont know why i didnt drop the pan. well it is like 25 degress out and with my luck i thought it was blown. the hose clamps on my trans cooler came undone. 7 quarts of fluid, shifts fine.

i left a trail about 2 miles down the highway the line was facing strait under the car. this happened like 3 months ago but it hit the exaust manifold. i only lost 2 quarts cause the smoke was insane.

Glad it turned out to be nothing major. And i doubt you did any major damage, just made it difficult to move.
