how much of a beating can a 97 gtp trans take. on mine i have the following mods, slp headers, wizair intake, 1.84 RR, ported s/c, Ported LIM, ported TB, zzp pcm(slightly tweeked) no cat, and 3.4" pulley. the trans was rebuilt at 45000 miles and i now have 125000 on it. any advice for someone as broke as me

Mine held up nicely with mods similiar to yours...without the P&P stuff and headers. Don't do one tire fires, and be smart about it, and it will last longer than you might think. Good maintainence is good, too. Mine held up to 145+mph runs on multiple occasions, heavy throttle, and a lot of burnies.

thats good to know. i'm hoping it holds up for a while. i'm gonna be building a new heavily modded engine after the winter time that i'm going to build over the next couple years as well as a transmission so when my motor and trans decide to die i have a really powerful motor and trans all ready to be dropped in.
