Ok newbie here to the forums...

I have a 2000 GT 3.8 non-st. I have noticed over the last month when driving back and forth to work I would have high rpms. When I drive between 50-55 my rpms are running about 2300 when I get er up to 60 I am doing about 2700 and 70 is about 3200 rpms. I have no shudder, no hard shifting, everything seems normal with the exception I'm not hitting 4th gear.

Last night I cranked er out to 80 while in drive and shifted to 3 and no difference in speed or rpms. I also held steady on the gas and tapped the breaks just enough for brake light to come on as well as a little harder down on the brakes. My rpms stayed the same didn't jump up or go down.

I have also noticed while having the cruise on going 60 my rpms are running at 2700. When I go down the hill and the car speeds up and no longer needs the push the rpms drop down to 1200 and when the car slows enough to kick the cruise back in to maintain 60 it jumps from 1200 to 2700 rpms.

I know I got some issues here and looking to get pointed in the right direction.

Thanks!

What he said. It's a fairly common issue with time if you trans didn't come with the hardened 4th clutch hub. You can purchase this hub from vendors such as ZZPerformance.com and have a trans place install it. Probably time for a refresh on the trans if you're taking it apart anyway.

Thanks for the responses! I sent ZZ performance and email as I didn't see it directly on their website. I may have overlooked something. Anywhoot, what does refreshing the tranny involve?

Thanks again!
