Several months ago I added a tranny cooler, ZZP shift kit, and Dexron VI to my car. I didn't replace the 1-2 spring with a 2-3. ZZP's kit doesn't come with springs. The kit and a little tranny tuning helped things out but the 1-2 shift was still a little sluggish for me. I bought 2 new 2-3 springs, and 2 gallons of Dexron VI tanny fluid dropped the pan and installed the new springs. My 1-2 shift is now a little quicker and harder but not a whole lot. My recommendation would be to change out the 1-2 with a 2-3 if you are dropping the pan for either a fluid change or to install a shift kit. If you've already done a shift kit but did not change the spring I would wait until it's time for a fluid change. It didn't seem to make enough change to replace it unless you were already dropping the pan. On the plus side my tranny fluid is now 85% or so Dexron VI after the second fluid change. That does give me a little more peace of mind.

Steven

I've always been a little nervous to pull that portion out of the trans. I know it's not THAT tough, but there is so much that COULD go wrong. I need to replace my PCS, and will likely replace the springs at the next pan drop, which SHOULD be before the car hits the road again. Got 35,000 miles on this trans oil.

It's actually really easy. Not too much to go wrong. I used the DIY instructions and the ones from ZZP the first time but didn't need them the second time.
