Ok so the other day i put $35.00 worth of gas in my car. EXACTLY $35.00. Go in to pay and said 35, pay and go back out to my car. Next thing i know the attendant comes out and demands that i owe 5 more dollars. I look at my receipt and it says $35.21....WTF....I go back in pissed because he is demanding i pay more even though i payed 21 more cents than i owed....he goes out and writes my plates down....WTF! the chick at the till must have made a mistake and had me pay the guy infront's gas bill as he was getting chips in the store while i was paying....but where the heck do they get 5 extra dollars from...you owe me 21 cents!!!!! I have yet to hear anything from the police and i am unsure if they or why they would report anything. Just for peace of mind ill be going to the police station to see if there has been anything reported.

Thats why i like using credit cards ;)

Id report them to customer service if i were you and make sure you make a copy of the reciept. The ink will fade over time and disappear.

^ Ditto... I also do some odd-ball amount instead of say just $20.00 I'll do like $20.11 or something like that. I'm weird like that though lol.

I always pay with a credit card and get my receipt for these reasons. You never know when something is going to go wrong and all it would take for the cops is your receipt.

I have a problem with my pump 1 last Sunday at Speedway. The pump was frozen with weird message like this ast8yaye8asseare. I try fill it up but nothing work for 2 minutes. I figure pump is broken. Then I moved it to pump 5. Finally working until this guy in blue Ford pickup truck use pump 1 where I have a problem. He fill it up and left scene. I was thinking it gotta be my charge. I drove around and looked at price $47.13 to remember that. I went home and see my bank charge me $47.13  That's stupid but I already report this on bank so I should have a money back 30 days. Next time I will have to reminder myself... never left the pump and raise the hell for what f*ck wrong with your pump lol

I prefer to use a card just for the convienence except in jersey these thieves charge you like an extra 10 cents per gallon when paying with credit over cash. But then again something like this is not likely to happen as every gas station is full service because apparently we are not "allowed" to pump our own gas for insurance reasons or some such nonsense I am told? Except they have some foriegn dude that speaks no english and doesnt know how to screw a gas cap on working at every gas station. I hate that.

Unless I'm at the Co-op (no ethanol), I pay at the pump. And I don't try for a certain dollar amount, I just stop when the pump kicks off. I don't top off. Only time I stop before then is when I'm only putting some gas in and not filling up completely.

I was filling up the other day and the pump didn't shut off when it was full, so gas was pouring down the side of my car and all over the ground. I ran inside and told the guy so he shuts off the pump. I tell him I don't think I should have to pay for the gas that spilled out but he didn't know how much spilled so he said I had to pay the full amount.

I thought about calling the cops but I didn't want to wait around just to get $5 or so back, so I just drove off and thought to myself I'm never buying gas there again. Luckily it was raining so it washed most of the gas off my car on the ride home.

The cops probably wouldn't go in your favor. Technically you're supposed to monitor the pumps, thus the signs that say "Do not leave unattended". Most stations also have a "No responsible for spills" sign too.

I didn't leave the car unattended. The gas started shooting out while I was standing by the nozzle.

So you kick the handle off? If you squaeeze the handle it disables the auto hold. Or, did it not stop after you let go of the handle? I had a pump that was supposed to shut off and when I squeezed the handle to release the auto hold it kep running and they just let me go without paying the difference. ;)

I had the lever lock on but I wasn't about to get soaked with gas, so that's why I ran inside and told him to shutoff the pump.

Atleast if you go to Wawa, they don't charge you extra for using credit like most gas stations. And because they speak English, you can just let them know you've got it and they usually don't mind you filling up on your own. Because I hate it when attendants scuff the paint by my gas door, I have to do it myself. Only downside to Wawa is their premium is 1 octane lower than Sunoco. Guess it's a give and take lol

I had the opposite experience. My car was on empty, so I started the pump in -15* F weather. It went for two minutes or so, accumulating $7 worth of gas... or so I thought. Because it took so long, I checked my gas gauge. Car was full. I went in (this was a credit card transaction) and told the attendant. They didn't know what to do, so they took my info and told me they may contact me. Well, they never did and they never charged me. Full tank (like $60 worth of gas) for $7, and it was completely legit due to a frozen pump.

I got gas today $3.29 for premium. That's the lowest it's been in ages.

Just filled up today at 3.37. It's been dropping every so slowly so I'm not complaining.

When I used to pay with cash I would have the same problem, pump slowly to 19.99 and end up at 20.01. Now that I always use credit at the pump I just go until it shuts off and call it a day and I never top it off anymore.
