Where can I get Slotted and drilled rotors? I've already looked in the usual vendors we have, but they don't carry any. 3800Performance, ZZP, & WBS.

I'll post the link since I bought them from this guy and so did Don. I'm very satisfied with the performance.

Don't get drilled rotors, the metal can stress crack around the holes. Slotted only are the way to go.

I'll search into the problem. I was thinking of getting these...

http://store.r1concepts.com/Items/Item. ... e%20Rotors

They are going to run me an est. $300 for all four.

>>Edit<<

Ok some I did a quick google search and found a thread on another fourm talking about it.

Quote:
That article is exactly right, however I have never seen nor heard of anyones crossdrilled and slotted rotors crack like the images they show'd. (everyone on my porsche forums does some sort of racing) I think the cracking is more of a myth or more previlant in cheaper rotors.
It's no myth...i've seen several examples on my LSX forums of drilled rotors developing little cracks around the holes. And these are quality parts, nothing "DIY". The fact of the matter is, you can't get any benefit out of it on the street so just don't do it. Unless of course you like the looks, and are willing to deal with the consequences such as cracking and eating your brake pads like a cheese grater.

I'm going to continue search why it cracks and see what I find. All I keep on finding are people who argue about weather if it's a myth or not. but, they also side with my thought that it's a fashionable mod to add to the car.

When the metal is drilled, it fatigues the molecules around the holes. When the rotors are constantly heated & cooled, the metal fractures, which causes it to crack. I know all about metal properties because I'm a tool & die maker, so this is not just something I'm making up.

If the holes are cast into the rotor when it's manufactured (like on the GP GXP) the metal isn't fatigued so it won't crack. But this type of rotor is very expensive, so most people buy the drilled rotors. The holes don't do anything anyway, they are just there for looks. The slots clean the pads which keeps fresh material exposed for maximum braking performance.

That's why I went with slotted/dimpled. This way you still get the looks of drilled rotors, but no chance of stress cracks. I also got my rotors through rotorpros.com.

If you want the look of drilled rotors get the dimpled ones like STKKS did, then they won't stress crack.

Andy here's some pics of STKKS dimpled rotors:

And another with my slotted rotors further down:

Dimpled rotors will still stress crack. I had EBC rotors and they did the stress crack thing. I THINK I still have pics of 'em.

Dave that's really good, and I know you're hard on your brakes when you're Autocrossing.

....which rotors and where did you get them? Rotorpros.com?
60K miles for me would take me maybe 8 years if I keep up with my usual routine, got my car in 04 and it only has 39,000.

I got drilled and slotted. So far no problems at all. I look at them everyday too. I wonder if the cracking might have something to do with the type of pad used?

By the way the Raybestos pads are really nice!
