Seems like everytime I get enw tires the shops always fill them only to 30 PSI. WHY??? They don't even look full. I've kept the last set between 38-43.

I run 35-36 psi so the tires don't wear on the outside edges. Too much pressure will cause the center of the tread area to wear prematurely.

I keep mine at 40psi, less rolling resistance, and better fuel economy.

The TPS warning pops up at 32psi on my car so I need to keep it a little higher for temperature variation.

wondering why more in the rears than fronts .. the front has more weight to it. (unless huge system)

i will often run up about 40-42 sometimes less (usually because the temps will lower them) in the winter (allthough i do check them every so often) apparently i drive just hard enough to wear the sholders as our tires usually have pretty even wear on them

my general rule is close to what the tire says for max cold (a little less to not wear the centers too much), my exception to this is with my truck, as it has load E tires which require 80 psi for max, and i run about 50 psi most of the time unless i am gonna pull a large load farther than about 30-50 miles. (like over 7,000 lbs) but as being i have 6 tires on the ground having them that hard with no load and only tonge wieght from hauling a car (5-6,000 usually with car and trailer) there is no need for that much. 4 tires @ 50 psi is plenty (and still wearing centers)

our other eception in trailer tires, max psi allways. (haveing a trailer tire blow to underinflation is just stoopid) they wear the centers really bad, but we have very, very few fail.

35 on stock wheels.

I'm not sure about my 18" wheels with 245/45/18 tires. I guess same 35?

I don't see why would you want to loosen the car up. I want mine to handle tight since the G8 has a 50/50 weight balance so I keep all 4 tires the same pressure.

In the GP I ran 32 all around. That provided me with even wear. When I got them the shop put 35 in them and the outer edges weren't wearing at all. 32 evened everything out.

In the Jeep I run 28 all around. Big balloony 33's need less air on a 3800lbs Jeep. Again when I got them installed the shop put 35 in them and the outer 1.5 inches of tread weren't even touching the ground. 28 evened everything out. With 35 I was bouncing all over the place going down the road. 28 smoothed that out too.

Higher pressure in the back because of a lot of weight in the back and my car's tendency to plow like a mofo.

Since 70% of the weight of the GXP is in the front I should keep those higher?

I always put more pressure in the front tires when I drove a Grand Prix since the front is heavier.

Mine went off yesterday and it's not that cold yet. I put 36 lbs (cold) in them and when I left home this morning they were all at 34. WTF?

I don't think they read correctly at all. I compared the DIC and the results from the air pressure gauge I got and it was different.
