Here's the deal. There are five (yes, 5!)  rubber brake lines on our cars. One rubber line for the two rear and front right calipers and two rubber lines to the front left caliper. From the master brake cylinder to the front left brake: master brake cylinder -> solid hose -> rubber line -> solid hose -> rubber line -> caliper. Stainless steel kits will only replace the line to the caliper, not both.

I've emailed ZZP and asked if they can make a custom line for me because I feel that replacing only one of the lines with stainless defeats the purpose of the kit. After I emailed them the pics Zoomer responded with:

Quote:
How many would be made? What price point? Is there a reason this would be popular for 04 guys?

Is there anyone else who's interested in this? I will be pursuing other companies if he is unwilling to make just a few of them. I would like to get a feel for how many think this is a worth while endeavor. I truly feel that the kit should come with it standard for another $10 or $15.

It's hard to see and I cannot edit these pics at work to highlight the area. In the first pic it helps to zoom in. The rubber is the only hose that is black and has no plastic covering. In the second pic it is the hose that drops from the engine bay into the wheel well.

I posted this at the old clubgp just to see if I could get a larger group that's interested and the first reply I received stated that the previous generation has this issue as well.

Good post, how hard would it be to replace that line?

Really easy. It's less than 6" including the connectors. With the car raised and the wheel off it's very accessible. It screws on and off just like the regular lines.

The extra break line is out now for anyone interested. The decimal is a little to far to the right, but what's couple of extra bucks between a respected vender and a loyal customer.

That's my opinion too. Reading Zoomers posts on CGP I think that the price is ludicrously high until the beta test is complete. Someone over there mentioned the priced doubled to 900. So Maybe next week sometime it will be in the 10 - 15 dollar range.

I have never heard anything on the topic before, but I've heard of crazier things moving from one state to the next.

I sure hope it wasn't him. He sells SS brake lines. If you can legally add the four main ones, the 5th would be inconsequential.

It still says it's $999. How much is it supposed to be?

I must be confused or something but when I did my brakes there was only one line going to each caliper. Where exactly is this 5th line???

There are two rubber lines going to your front driver-side wheel. The one you replaced was connected to the caliper. The other one is on the end of the hard line coming out of the abs module.
