This is a PERFORMANCE and appearance based forum. Large heavy rims is considered VERY taboo here on GPONA and on any other affiliated Grand prix forums (CGP and GPF). Your more than welcomed to stay and look around and post. There are a few members here that do have large rims.

Only bit of help I can recommend is to upgrade your tranny parts:

Built axles-
http://www.zzperformance.com/grand_prix ... &catid=105

and if your car didn't come supercharged already... your going to to need this. If you do have the SC this part comes stock with the car.
http://www.zzperformance.com/grand_prix ... &catid=105

Don't bother getting a built tranny, they are only meant for racing applications.

If you don't plan on getting the parts above. Stay within the stock specs of the wheels (weight and diameter). Obviously the larger the rim the heavier it's going to be... unless you look at the higher quality rims that are light weight, like CCW rims.

^did ya miss the word "performance" in there, sparky???? what they are is a waste of money and materials, money tha could be spent on gas, paying rent, other mods....much better things than rolling down the street displaying to everyone else what a self-obsessed, materialistic person you are. People who want 20"+ rims on their car have a serious deficit of attention issue. but to each his own. This disclaimer should be a sticky

...highlighted "performance" and capped the whole thing.

Dam I think maybe there should be a separate forum for these guys.. seriously. It is nice that we have your own forum for our mods... while not them too. Beside we could use the added support to make GPONA much better. The only question is if this forum can be more grown up about it.

Why is everyone so harsh on 20" +? Well I can uderstand the + lol but 20s are fine sure they are heavier but, as long as they are the same dimention as stock..... as far as diameter they won't hurt as long as your not tryin to race ALL DAY EVERY DAY. I got 20s on my 07. Also I understand they DO ROB peformance to some extent. I want to go 18s but can't convince the wifey to do so being she is the one who MAINLY drives the car lol.

i think we should give the new guys some slack. the new cool thing is that bigger is better, remember that's how the gto was birthed. so instead of this being an insight for the new people it should be an insight for us that the times have changed and that we will be out numbered. All we can do is post to the user that there will be problems with 18+ wheels. Because there will be that line between us. i say smudge the line, do what makes you happy. Just note that we should accept all ideas and give honest responses vs flaming the new ppl.

I actually have a friend who won't post here anymore because a few people flamed his old car.

you're right Alex, i give up. Being logical doesn't work, being mean doesn't work.......guess i just need to accept that times are a-changin' and this damn hip hop culture is to bame for it. LOL. I wish there were a separate part of the forum for Rim/Appearance enthusiasts(mostly rim enthusiasts). I dont want to nor do i enjoy enjoy being an asshole but when these guys with 2 posts come on here and ask for people's feedback, and then get all butthurt and defensive when they don't like what people have to say....well kcuf, grow up! its an online forum where people express their thoughts, what'd you expect?? This isn't Miss Piggy's Playhouse, it's a forum where grown-ass men like to play with their cars and their wallet/pocket book. Grow a pair and quit being so uber-sensitive people, jesus...... :sad3:

Lets just give them their own section to talk to themselves.. there are a couple of cool guys here with 20+ rims. Besides we could use the extra support to make this place better.. who knows.. maybe they will have the answers to our 04+ projector needs. They do like to custom make a hell lot of stuff for their cars.

I'll second this. Give them a 22"+ forum and they can ask the questions we don't have the answers to.

Oh, the wildfire that has spawned from one person's question. I love it. But i think the idea of a whole seperate forum would be pretty clever and would cut down on some of the hate that we give people (even if they do deserve it sometimes).

Malefic_GP, Kudos for spearheading all of this.

I don't recall anything saying this is strictly a performance and appearance website. I guess that eliminates me, my car has no performance and its appearance isn't so hot with all the rust on it. If people want to post about 20"+ rims, let them post. Ignore their threads if they bother you so much, they aren't holding a gun to your head telling you to reply.
