A larger offset means the wheel sits further into the wheel well? Our cars use a stock offset of 40mm? This means that a wheel that has an offset of 35mm and a width of 8.5 inches would be more likely to rub on the outer fender than one that has an offset of 38mm? I know that a 38mm offset will work for our cars but I don't like the wheels to stick out past the fenders or rub. I know my bonneville wheels don't rub but they are in Denver (I'm in Seattle) and I'm not sure what the offset is. There are some very affordable wheels that have 35mm offset and are 8.5" wide. They also build them in a 38mm offset and 8 inches wide, too bad they aren't as inexpensive. I've started looking at bonneville wheels on tire rack so that it wold pick 8" wide wheels but I've seen offsets of up to 45mm. I'm wondering if they would stick in too much ane rub on something. What is the highest offset anyone has seen for wheels on a GP? And how does backspacing fit into the equation?

Thanks ahead of time

Steven

After a little research on tire rack I found that if the offset stays the same (40mm) the wheel would grow evenly on both sides. In order for the wheel to get wider but not stick in towards the hub the offset has to lessen. I think may get the 18x8.5 wheels with the 35mm offset, maybe.

The lower the offset the farther the wheel is going to stick out, but did we are talking about MM's here. The higher the offset the more inward and closer to the sturts.

Your not going to be able to tell from a 38mm wheel to a 35mm wheel.

and 04+ have allot more room to work with then 97-03s.

So even a +30 offset will be fine.

SS2004CompG the stock wheels have a 52mm offset, a wheel with a 35mm offset will stick out about 3/4" more. My wheels have a 38mm offset and they are flush to the fenders, I wouldn't get anything less than that or they will rub.
