Short Story - Determined that 1 of my TPMS has failed.

Long Story - Warning came on to Service TPMS System. Left Rear Tire Read "--" on display. I tried to manually reset the sensors, and they all read "--" because I couldn't complete the cycle because the last one "LR" would never read. Took it to the tire place and they proceeded to reprogram with their tool and they got to the "LR" and it took forever to program... but it finally did. They said the battery in that one is probably dying and I should get a new sensors. 24 hours later the warning came on again and "LR" reads "--".

I have read that in some TPMS that the batteries can be replaced.

So my question is for the 2007 sensors.... can the battery be replaced? If so, is it difficult? Anyone tried it?

If I need to buy a new one it makes senese that I should not buy used because I have no idea if it has used up most of its useful life. Anyone have suggestions on affordable ones that will work with my existing setup?

Thanks!

hi there,

I don't really have a solution to your question.. I did read up a bit on TPMS before... and I remember seeing photos of someone cutting the plastic piece of the sensor to access the battery, but you kind of need to know where it is... unless different ones have a cutout..Otherwise if I was faced with it, will be one day, I would probably just get a new one... off rockauto

hope this helps a bit

Just buy a new sensor, they don't cost that much.
