I got a bigger rear sway bar for my car (thanks to a '98 Lumina) but I'm having an issue. Namely, the damn thing's so stiff I can't bend it to wrap around my struts properly! Anyone got any tricks on how to do this, short of taking the freakin' strut out?

I hope you can't bend it by hand haha. Now usually on the 6th and 7th gen GP's the rear can just be slid over the exhaust with no fiddling around. I've never had any experience with a 5th gen, so I doubt i'd be much help. Now are 6th gen wbodies parts even compatible with the 5th gen wbodies?

Why buy something sensible with a RWD setup when you can build something really stupid, like this

Not sure, but my new bar is from a Gen 5.5 (Lumina,) and supposedly it fits, but I just read on another forum you need to load it with a ratchet strap to install, and that you need to weld a couple strips of flat stock on the mounts to keep the bushings from shooting out under the tension.

Hopefully all this work means it'll be stiff as hell.

BTW My stock bar was like 5/16", and I could move it with one hand, no problem. =P

i thought the Lumina's had about a 1.5" narrower track leading me to think the rear sway would be the wrong size. if i had to modify the mounts just to hold the bushings in, i would just get the right size bar.

The 95-9 Luminas actually had a 1.5" wider track, the bar itself is an inch wider.

I would run a stock bar except for the fact that mine is damaged, as was every one at the yard. Not to mention I could likely get better roll stiffness from a piece of paper. My stock bar is 5/16", and this one sits right at 1/2. I am getting mixed opinions on whether or not I have to modify the mounts or not, but even if I do it looks and sounds like a simple job.
