What are the benefits of getting a strut tower brace? Can you really feel a difference? Who should I buy them through?

I think it definitely helps the car handle corners better, I felt a difference... But I switched to the GMPP HD trailing arms and Rear Sway at the same time...

If you want GMPP, http://www.gmpartsdirect.com has a kit of 2 Strut Tower Bars for $22. The part number is 12498648.

IMHO, strut tower bars are mostly phycological since the firewall (a main contributer to the rigidity of the body) is only a couple inches away from where the strut tower bar goes. That being said, I'm a hypocrite becuase I have a strut tower bar in my GTI. However, there isn't a large piece of metal connecting the 2 rear strut towers, you could get some benefist from by using a brace back there. But if it's all out cornering you want, go with what Mayben said and upgrade other components of your suspension while you're at it. Then again, other Wbody cars do come with them from the factory so it's all up to you, but for 22 bucks I would say go for it. Spruce up the engine bay, and it make a nice racheting tie down point (which is what I sometimes use mine as). Most of car modding is based on what makes the owner feel good though, so even if it's only a phycological difference, you can feel good about it. Every little bit helps though.

all the parts can be bought really cheap.. Get the brackets from Don Rome... the STBs, GMPP HD Trailing Arms and Rear Sway bar from the dealer or shopgmparts.com or where ever...

If you do end up getting the GM strut bars, definitely get the Don Rome brackets. Makes install a breeze without having to drill.

X2. I just installed my Front and Rear GMPP Strut Tower Bars and Don Rome's brackets made installation really simple.

Thanks again Don!

^3x I just installed my GMPP STB & D-Rome brackets too.

WOW what a difference it made in handling. It's like riding on rails taking turns and exit ramps. Kinda reminds me of when you replace really worn out tires...the ride changes big time. I even think driving in a straight line over bumps feels a lil better....more solid.

Agreed....thanks again Don! ;-)

Yup! I put my STB's on tonight with the Don Rome brackets along with the bigger sway bar... WHAT A DIFFERENCE! My car handles much better now! Thanks Don for your kick ass parts that allowed me to install the STB's without drilling into my car. I only put the front on, and might tackle the rear this weekend.

I ordered my bars from Chevy. I can get a pretty good discount through my work. I also ordered the sway bar from Chevy. I went to O'reilly's and ordered the sway bar end links and trailing arms from Moog. I haven't put in the arms yet or the rear brace. So far I have been happy with the improvements!

Hey Nick, Yep, I ordered that number and that's the kit I used for my car along with the Don Rome kits. I ordered mine from Chevy. I am not sure if they are the same as the W body store's bars.. Good luck! And my car is an 07, not sure of yours..

If you order the GM Strut Tower Brace from W Body store it is the exact same as what's on the GMPP site. You will probably receive them ALOT faster by ordering through W Body store. I think it only took a couple days to receive mine. Not sure if they will fit later models than 02 though.

Don's brackets are bullshit, they are a hoax, he sent me my set extremely quick and they installed in a matter of minutes with no drilling required...

Will those strut braces still fit a 2003 Grand Prix, even though they don't list it?
