Ok guys, I've read scattered posts about this, I think it's about time to get one thread talking about the dos and don'ts here. From what I've read.

So there are a ton more rims that come with 5x114.3 bolt patterns. I personally want some 18x8.5" Work Emotion CR Kai's in gloss black http://www.evasivemotorsports.com/Merch ... ORKCR-1885

Negatives of running a 5x114.3 wheel:

Extra stress on your lug stems due to not ideal pattern.
Problems with keeping the wheel centered on the hub?
Problems hurting the hub lip?
Some of the rims don't fit on the stock hub lip?

How many more are there guys? It seems to me that .7 millimeters is a pretty small difference. How many people have run this bolt pattern and had no problems? If you have, how long have you been running this set up with no issues?

Good info. I have ran a 114.3 for about 3 years now and have snapped a couple studs but it is worth it IMO. They have stayed on the car at autox and track days so they fit pretty well I guess.

What all is involved in changing a stud? How did you know it had been snapped? Cost of a new stud? Were you able to drive home with the broken stud? :) A set of questions everybody considering doing this will want to know Thanks Victor

Changing a stud is a piece of cake. The stud will cost you about $2 and goes in pretty easy. Just take off the wheel/caliper/rotor and the pound that bastard out. Then slide the new one in and have at it with your BFH.

I only notice a broken stud when I am washing the car and it is drivable with a broken stud, but you should change it as soon as possible.

Awesome info man, thanks. What size and offset are your wheels? They seem to fill out the rear perfectly. Your car is lowered is it not?

My wheels are 18 x 7.5 with a 40MM offset. Personally I wish they were a little more pushed out into the corners, but I didn't have alot of choices on these wheels. The car is lowered on Springtechs and CompG struts.

I am back to running 235/50/18's all around, but in some of my pictures the car had 255/45/18's in the rear and 235/50/18's in the front. If I dont go air bagged over the winter I want to go back to the wider tires in the rear.

:)

I have been using the 5x114.3 bolt pattern for 2 years now and have had no issues. I have not broken any studs. I did use hub rings to center the wheel on the hub and have it make contact with the hub. Doing so limited some of the vibrations I was getting.

Thanks Guz :) Victor, did you use hub rings? Could it be the difference in body styles maybe? Any other guys with the 97-03 style have to use the rings? Any guys with 04+ have to use the rings? Do the rings increase your offset? If so how much?

Victor, so you would rather have a 35ish offset than the 40? I want to put 275/30-18's in the front on 18x9's and 255/35-18's in the rear on 18x8's but I don't think the front clearance with the springs would be ok unless I went with like a 30 offset but then they might stick out a little too far. I'm going to have to test fit to see what works and what doesn't

I use rings with my wheels and pretty much any wheel that you order for your car will come with hub rings. They do not change how much the wheels stick out, as they just fill the gap between the wheel center bore and the hub. Personally I would rather have a 40MM offset, but then you can start running into tires rubbing on the fenders depending on tire size.

The 275/30-18's seem very short when compared to what most of us run. You might have better luck with a 275/40. Take a look at this tire calculator site so you can get a better idea of what to run.

I should have added my wheel specs. I did roll my rear fenders since I am lowered. Was not a big deal to roll them. It can be doen in an hour or so. I have had +40mm offset as well and the +35mm only stick out a little more.

Wheel specs:
Size:18x8
Offset: +35mm
Bolt pattern: 5x114.3mm

Thanks again guys, and yeah I'm retarded, I meant 275/40's I've got 255/45's on the front now. Deededee the rear will be 245/45 in the new set up. But i've gotta go 18x9 in front and 18x8 in back which is what worries me. The tires are only a little over an inch wider than stock. So the offset should help the problem if i get around a +30 or 32 offset i'm guessing

What sounds fun about vibrations, broken studs, loose lug nuts and your wheel falling off. As a professional in the tire industry I feel very strongly about this. I will never install, sell, or recommend any 5-114.3 wheel for any of our cars. If it was ok to do why would the wheel manufactures drill the wheels both ways? Sure, many people have them with little or no problem not on my car. Just my .02
