I have a friend with the B+G springs, and he said we should do a trade. My stock springs, for his.

He has 1997 2 door grand prix GT.
Mine is the 2000 4 door.

I know both cars are pretty much the same, ... they will fit... wont they? ?

Ok, so if they go... Is that a smart move? Trading stock for B+G?

they will fit... they will drop your car 1.2-1.5 inches front and rear... I would go for it :)

hell, why not?!? i would do it!! that's a free suspension upgrade ;) it'll get a lil stiffer riding, but that's the fun part of being a car enthusiast!!

Is he wanting to trade just springs or complete struts? It's a lot more work to trade just the springs. If he wants to trade complete struts you should go for a ride in his car to see how it handles. If he didn't ever change the struts when he replaced the springs it's very possible that his struts are blown. You may want to go ahead and replace your struts, strut mounts, and boots when you are doing the spring swap. There is no sense in doing it and then having to redo it a few miles down the road. Oh, and don't forget to trim your bumpstops. Good luck!

Steven

How much of a trim?

His car is a smooth ride, not stiff at all... thats bad, right?

Trim about an inch. The bumpstop is inside the boot. If his rides smooth then it's probably ok. When your shocks(struts) are gone it will ride sloppy and once it hits a bump it will keep oscillating up and down for a bit. To trim the bumpstops you have to disassemble the strut. If you have high mileage it could be time to invest in new struts and strut mounts. If he installed his springs he would know if he trimmed them. The easiest option would be to just trade assemblies and get it aligned. At some later date when the struts are worn out you could get new struts and mounts. Good Luck!
